Can You Wash An Electric Blanket?

Photobucket

Okay my friends that is a question I have wanted to ask you since last April. The reason I am asking now is because Yes it looks I am going to be needing a way to stay warm this winter because both of my surgeries results were God sent because all of your prayers. The first thing I saw when I woke up was my sister-in-law Linda and then the doctor walked in and asks me. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” You’re good on both ends and there were no polyps! I have scar tissues in my throat from not being able to swallow for a while but otherwise good. YEP you read it right! All is Good!

I cried from happiness and praised God for all of our prayers being answered. Saying Thank you does not ever seem enough for all that you do for me. It is time for another Thank you giveaway and I am working on it now and will let you know in a few days what it will be.

Your comments were helpful about having a colonoscopy and don’t think for a minute I did not read each every one of them and appreciated all the advice. So if anyone ever wants me to leave a comment about my experience I would have to say it would read something like this :
Go to the store and buy these products to save yourself a lot of pain and aggravation. You will need a big jar of petroleum jelly or Vaseline and the biggest box of Depends on the shelf and the twenty-four pack of toilet tissue. Softest money can buy!

Now then you will be ready for the night of horror. Read the instructions carefully on the kit and two hours after taking the two pills be ready to Run like Hell! Yep it totally happens without any notice and that’s where the Depends would have come in handy.

Then two hours later you’re drinking the mix that will make you think that you were a dang fool for agreeing to such punishment. Several hours after your drink from hell then you guessed it is time again to run like hell. Once again Depends are needed.

Oh and then several hours into the running you might just throw your guts up. This does not happen to everyone but it can and does happen. I was one of the lucky ones.

By the next morning you will figure out why I told you about the Vaseline. Also don’t fool yourself into thinking this running only last a few hours. Nope mine lasted until they wheeled me into surgery. Oh and if you think the running stops after surgery take my word for it It Don’t! haha
So much for my comment….its all over and I am so ready for the next chapter in my life.

Oh and I know the question you all are waiting for me to answer was my doctor a Penguin or a McDreamy? I was hoping for a in between but he was more of a young Clint Eastwood and his bedside manner was all this ole lady could of hoped for. We got to talking and I asked him if he was married. I know how could I but I am one of those crazy mothers looking for Mr. Right for her daughter. He laughed and asked,”Why?” I laughed and told him and he said,”Oh I thought maybe you were wondering if I was like the doctor in Something’s Got to Give and I go for older women. Of course everyone laughed then and I was beet red….then I said, “A girl can dream can’t she?”

The anesthesologistt suggested that they not put me under so we could laugh some more but I insisted I was through with crazy questions and the next thing I knew it was sweet dreams.

I truly believe with all my heart without you I could not have made it through these past three months.
God has given me a gift today and I hope to give one back to him. I have a chance to get to know all of you better and to keep writing silly post.

So my answer to his question What Do I want to be when I grow up would be a better mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend to all of you.

And now Can You Wash An Electric Blanket?

“It seems to me that trying to live without friends is like milking a bear to get cream for your morning coffee. It is a whole lot of trouble, and then not worth much after you get it.”……Zora Hurston

Sweet Dreams,

Maggie

Just like we already knew, but it is nice to say it again, "God is good!!!" So glad that is all behind you. I do hope while you were out "Clint" remembered to do the throat first. LOL That would have been one more laugh for him if you would have reminded him to make sure he didn't reverse the process. Next time I have to have my colonoscopy, I am going to put something like a table with my pillow on it next to the toilet and just stay there and not get up and do the TA (tight a**) run back and forth all night long. Sphinghter (sp?) muscles on 66 year old women are nearly worn out. They have about as much elasticity as the rest of these old body parts that gravity has gotten a hold of. So glad you got good reports. Have a restful weekend and now maybe you can eat something kind of solid. :-) Notice I said kind of - don't tempt fate.

My sweet, dear friend...
I am breathing a sigh of relief and doing the happy dance right along with you! They say, "If you're going to pray, don't worry...and if you're going to worry, don't pray." Easier said than done, I know, but in your case, I prayed and had faith. God didn't let us down. That means He still has big plans for you!

Some time, I'll tell you about my girlfriend's daughter who had her first colonoscopy recently and embarrassed the hell out of herself. What we do say when we're sedated! It's pretty funny.

Relax your body and mind this weekend, and know that there is one relieved girlfriend here in south Florida.

Huge Hugs1!!

Maggie I am thrilled to hear this news! There was never any doubt at this end that all the prayers would be answered in the best way possible.
Enjoy this happy moment and get some rest. As for the blanket.....I don't know, lol, I never owned one, sorry..:(

I don't have a clue about the blanket, but am so happy to hear that all is well. I was one of the "lucky" ones, too, but felt so glad that all was well with the test that nothing else mattered.

Oh Maggie, I just love you...and yes, prayers were answered. I am so happy I could cry...now get that back better! ;D

Yes, Maggie, wash the blanket on gentle cycle, cool water. Dry on low or line dry partially and fluff in dryer
.
But electric blankets are harmful to us, just as hair dryers, cell phones and microwave ovens. Do research. I quit my snuggly blanket years ago with regret. btw, an electric blanket in the dead of summer! Hope you will explain further. My place was 92 inside. Thought I'd either die or become a puddle at my feet. Must have lost a gallon of water staying inside out of the heat! I can't take it much longer.

It is so good to hear good news about you. Hopefully you will be back to "normal" soon.

My colonoscopy last September was a failure. A blockage. I never followed up with other tests as I lost my insurance. I guess, 'what will be, will be. It do be a worry though.

Count me in on your drawing whenever it happens, please. Winning something perks one up.

One of my poor family members have undergone this procedure (up the south entrance) that my family made jokes about it; we call it 'butt-cam'. I am so glad you are ok.
You have so much left to live and do, it's time to scrape your ex off your feet and forget him!

Of course you can wash an electric blanket. I put my in my machine, regular cycle, add the detergent, run it through, and then hang it on the line to dry. It turns out just fine. I've had my blanket for years, and it works every year!

I'm so glad you are going to be fine. I am going to have that test as soon as we finish the treatments for the hubby! 2 down, and 3 to go!

Wonderful news, not about the ghastly prep but the results. Been there and you describe it well. Have you weighed? You should have a nice surprise. Outside of peace of mind, that is the only benefit.
Glad to know you were entertaining as you went under.
My electric blanket needs freshing also. Think I will try what your readers suggest. I use mine only as a bed warmer before getting in. Love it.

Good morning, sweet Maggie!

Down deep inside me I had the feeling all along that you were okay and all was going to be just fine, but reading your words made it so much more real. Thank, God for taking care of you!

Now sweet friend, you take a big long breath and get right on with enjoying life. We all love you so much.

As for your question...I have no idea if you can wash an electric blanket, I have never owned one.

Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs

Dear Maggie, Good for you! Yes the procedure is nothing compared to the getting ready for the procedure, a real pain in the ass! Take care, I care.

Wow, you did awesome! I have no idea about the blanket because I think electric blankets are not good for us. I blame my miscarriage on one..I know that sounds silly but I read that they can harm your system like that. Anyway, I'm glad your going to be an old, old, Sugar Momma to some hottie Doc! Have a great weekend!

Oh am so thankful the two ended tests were successful. I personally do not use an electric blanket but my husband does.

I have washed it according to directions several times
and air dried, with a little in dryer on an air/no heat cycle. I don't like the sound of the plug hitting my stainless steel drum! So usually I pick is sunny day , even in winter, to air dry it outside. I use Woolite and cold water, but if you follow directions on the blanket you will be OK

I have a fear of electrocution when covering my self if wires. I know, but we all have unfounded fears.

What you wrote in this post about what you would leave as a comment for someone under going this 'delightful' proceedure is what I was trying to tell you in mine, but you did it so much better. What a night of HELL that was. I felt like I had been run through a sieve and then pulled right back through it. After the whole thing, I threw up the entire sixty mile drive back home...boy, hubs was thrilled!!! He can't wait for his own little date with the devil!
I am glad to hear that all was well.
hugs

Hey girl, can I borrow one of those Depends??? I'm laughin' so hard here I fear I may need one...either that or change my bloomers!!!

The directions say you can wash an electric blanket but I've never washed on that I didn't have a problem soon after. Things like sparkin' smoking and shorting out. Therefore, I really don't recommend it.

God bless ya and have a glorious day!!!
