Cat On A Hot Tin Roof!

Let me tell you it is hotter than a Cat running across a Hot Tin Roof here in Texas today! I will also go as far and say that it is hotter than Liz Taylor or Paul Newman were in the movie Cat On a Hot Tin Roof! Now you know that is darn hot.  What's worse it is only June.

I know we are so lucky to already have warm weather but when one walks outside for five minutes and notice's their dripping a puddle of water around them and it ain't rained in months then you know it is to darn HOT. lol

Ok enough because some of you are still wishing for warm weather. We are also in a bad drought which makes it worse. I have cracks in my yard so big I could fall in well maybe big enough for a cat to fall in.

You want to know what else is Hot here in Texas. Well I got an email from my Daughter In Law Andrea this morning and I tell you I almost forgot about my back pain and did a Happy Dance. She told me that my precious Kaci came from way behind in her Car Race Contest for Juvenile Diabetes and is now number four.

Yep went from way down on the list to Top Five. She has to be in the Top Five by June 30th in order to have a chance to win the Race for Diabetes. The top five entries will be judged by Ford. I have not been this excited in a long time.

I can not tell you how much I appreciate you for going to the site and voting for my granddaughter Kaci Borchgardt. As most of you know Kaci is nine and was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes two years ago. Since then Kaci has not given up hope that one day there will be a cure if she can raise enough money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. My little Hero puts in many hours a month raising money for this foundation and to say I am proud of her is an understatement.

Not only does she take five shots a day but twice that is finger sticks to check her blood sugar. Never in those two years have I heard her complain once. Her Uncle Chad my oldest son has suffered over 27 years too with Juvenile Diabetes and it amazes me that he too has never complained. I am most proud of them for what they both do to inspire others.

Just pray and vote for Kaci that she will be in the Top Five by the end of this month for this Contest. Kaci has a little Happy Dance she does when something good happens in her life so please help my baby do her Happy Dance.  Here is the picture she entered for the contest and if you can please click on Here to vote for Kaci. Also if you could add this site to your Facebook or Blog asking for votes for Kaci I would really appreciate you.

No one should have to go through what these children go through so every vote is appreciated so much.

 Love to all
Maggie

We had 16 days of 90+ degrees in Kentucky in May. This month a few 90 degree days and usually high 80's. We've had rain this week and Tuesday and Wednesday it was 70-7, almost perfect.

One thing around here the weatherheads are predicting a cooler than normal July. I hope they are right.

I just loved that movie, actually any movies with Elizabeth in it. Maggie and Brick and Big Daddy were such fun to watch!

Yea for Kaci! I'm pretty sure I've already voted for her, but I'll go make sure right now!

Big TX Hugs,

You're so right about children shouldn't have to suffer this. It is hot. When I was out watering, it said 110!

Hi Maggie,I hope that this heat wave will subside soon and I hope that Kaci will win the race.

I don't think that I saw that movie...

My husband and I both support a lot of good charities and so much so that I don't support any more. Now with our new grandson who was born without his left hand we are supporting The Champs through the War Amps to support kids like him. Since they will help my grandson for a long time we are increasing our donations from now on.

I hope that you can stay cool and take care of yourself. Hugs. Julia

Hot, hot, hot and dry here too sweet Maggie so I feel for you. I am really tired of the 98 to 101 every day. I know there are some that would like warm weather...well, I would too this Hot is just too much. It is not only just June but it isn't even officially summer yet. Sure hope the whole summer is not like this.

Oh, I am so happy for Kaci. Thanks for letting us know. You are so right that no child should have to go through what that precious little angel does.

One of my favorite movies. I like anything with Paul Newman in it. :)

Hope your back is better and you are having a good week sweet Maggie. Love and hugs

Hi Maggie, I would love to send you some of our flood water that we are praying the levees hold it, but we won't know. The worse part of it, is that it is not all caused by mother nature. I think I will keep my cooler weather . I am being selfish. You know I would send you some if I could.
I keep praying for you and your family. Our son that has chemical asthma is also a diebetic so I live with two of them. I hope they do find a cure for it to make everyones life better.
I read your previous post. I get lectures from my son about what I can mix so I don't cause him a problem. He knows what it is to be in the hospital. He takes steriods for the asthma and it raises the bloodsugar. A catch 22. I keep thinking about you. There was a while I could read, but not leave messages.Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.

I'm pretty sure we are not on the same planet. I am covering my tender precious flowers tonight because we are supposed to freeze.

I would love a day or two of some of your hot.

I am so happy for your little Kaci!
I'm off to vote for her.

I've been at work when we've diagnosed JD and the parents just look shell shocked. Bless their hearts.

I hope you get some wet coolness!

Do hope you get some relief soon weather wise. We have the same heat but fortunately a smidgen of water now and then to help out.

I am glad to hear the Kaci is climbing up the chart.
My hubs and youngest son have diabetes and never complain either what troopers they all are.
Wish we could send some of this moisture your way.
Have a great weekend.

I did a quick check and Kaci was #4 today. I had been doing finger pricks for a different reason until recently, so I can empathize with all who have to do it so much. A new drug does the same thing and and I don't have to do the finger sticks weekly (Coumadin). I am now taking Pradaxa I thint that is the name. Still bruise but drug interactions or finger sticks.

Your Kaci sounds like an amazing little girl! She should be on Oprah!! Children like this are heros in my eyes and such wonderful examples to the rest of us when we feel like whining. Good luck to her and her race. I'll vote for sure!!
I just read your last post. WOW! What a story! You certainly have a gorgeous daughter!! Glad things turned out OK!
Keep cool, Maggie...but then I forgot,....you ARE cool!!!
