Happy Mother's Day!

In a few days it will be Mother's Day and of course like most of you I have been thinking of my mother more than usual this week. As you can see from this post I have also been playing again with Ipiccy. In a previous post I told you how easy the site was to make collage and once you make one your hooked.

Looking through my pictures of Mother I realized I only had a few that she would of liked for me to share. She was like me when it came to having her picture made.

I also found I don't have near as many pictures of her as I thought I did. Most of my better pictures are in books and frames so these were some loose ones that I had in a box that need to be placed in albums.

Look at all the ways I used the same pictures. There are so many different options on this site that you can find your self neglecting house work, mowing, writing and other things you need to do.

Mother use to say she hated her pictures because her mouth was always open. After scanning these I had to laugh because I think in most of them her mouth is open. Even so I still love these pics.

The picture above is on mother and daddy's 40th wedding anniversary. I am surrounded by my four brothers and of course my mother and daddy in front row with me. This is one of the last pictures we all were together in because we lost my dad way to young.

Some of my best memories of my mother were during the time I owned a ceramic shop and she would come over and we would paint together for hours.
Ceramics was something we both enjoyed doing but later in life she learned the art of Eggery. This was her passion for many years. She loved it so much my dad had to remodel their garage into a studio.

Her eggs were one of kind and I remember one of the big casino's in Vegas had purchased some of her eggs and were displayed in the hotel lobby. Also the Baird Family of Mrs. Baird's Bread Company have one or two of mothers eggs.

She gifted us with some on special occasions otherwise I could not have afforded to buy them. lol
One of my favorites is a goose egg with mother and daddy's wedding picture decoupaged on the front of it.
Inside was a music box. A keepsake to cherish.

I could not let Mother's Day go by without mentioning my MaMa. She is shown here with her twin sister on their 80th Birthday party. They were actually identical twins and my MaMa told me one time they were at a dance with dates and since they were dressed alike they would go to the rest room come back out and switch dates. Supposedly they could find out what that date had to say about the other one. I loved it when she told me these stories. If I remember right Aunt Pearl also later married her date my Uncle Leonard.

Actually I lived for the two weeks each summer that I was allowed to stay with my grandparents in Freeport. Two weeks of being spoiled rotten. Oh how I miss those days of  being their Brown Eyes. I loved  my MaMa more than I can find the words to say. She was my best friend!

My Aunt Pearl never colored her hair and it was a beautiful white which you can't see in this picture. I guess that is who I get my white hair from. I helped color my Mama's hair up to the time she passed away. I tried to keep it a light brown. lol

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share with you a little of my mother. I of course got carried away with the Ipiccy but I wanted to show you just a few of the many ways you can make the collage. You would think I am being paid by this company as much as I am spreading the word about them. lol

My children have invited me to visit them this weekend for Mother's Day and my Birthday. They have planned for us to go to a farm that I enjoyed with them years ago picking strawberries but this Saturday we will be picking dewberries. Doesn't that sound like a fun day! Then for my Birthday on Sunday we are going out to eat and the movies.

I am just the luckest Grandma Yellow Hair and Mom in the whole world. I will of course take my camera and you will get to see the farm too.

What are your plans for the weekend? I pray you have a safe and fun day and be gentle on yourselves because you deserve it.
Love to all
Maggie

Happy Mother's Day, Maggie! I love that family shot of you with your brothers and parents. I've been invited out to breakfast and then some picture taking of me and the granddaughter at a local park. That is nice for me since I'm usually the one taking the pictures!

What wonderful pics of your mom. I especially like the one where he is holding those red roses!

And wouldn't it be fun to be twins and trick the boys?

What a lovely post about your mom. I'm an identical twin, too, but we never traded boyfriends. We liked different kinds of boys!

We are having a graduation ceremony at church for a home-schooled young man,and then pot luck, because that is what he wanted. He loves my chicken enchiladas, so I make a pan!

Happy Mother's day to you, Maggie!

I loved every word of it Maggie. Your family looks like a happy bunch. What a doll your mom was. And your nana!
I learned something too. You and I both did ceramics. I was hooked. My mom had a ceramic shop for years and even after she closed it I fired all my ceramics in her kiln and sold them to stores all over Idaho. I think ceramic dust must be addictive, don't you????
Have a wonderful Mother's Day.
sending hugs...

I loved the pictures of your mom. I can see now where you got your good looks. I should have posted last Tuesday about my mom, but I don't think I have too many pictures of her either, except for the ones that are large and in frames. I had a whole bunch of them in a house we moved from years and years ago when I was married to my first husband (and Dick and I will be celebrating our 40th anniversary in August, so you know it was a long time ago) The woman who bought our home jumped the gun and went into the house before we had everything out and she threw away so many of my treasures. I can hardly talk about it without crying.

It sounds like you will be having a great Mother's Day will your children. I am somewhat jealous as I won't be having any of mine with me. They will all likely call me tomorrow though. At least I hope they will!!

So anyway, Happy Mother's Day to you!!!
