Unexplainable, Inexcusable

Another sleepless night! Tinkerbell woke me up about 1:00 this morning growling at Toby my daughter's dog. Toby sleeps half the night in Christi room and the other half he will come into my room. When this happens Tinberbell gets herself in a tizzy and thinks she is Mighty Cat or Ms Pearl and tries her best to get him to go away. Toby just ignores her and lays down on the floor besides my bed. By then I am wide awake and my mind starts racing on different things.

This morning it was the tragic loss of our troops shot down once again in fighting for us.  I thought of these Americans and their families and I could not go back to sleep.

I copied this in case you have not heard the news.

Insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, killing 30 Americans, most of them belonging to the same elite Navy SEAL unit that killed Osama bin Laden, U.S. officials said Saturday. Seven Afghan commandos also died in the attack. It was the deadliest single day for American forces in the decade-old war.
The downing was a stinging blow to the lauded, tight-knit SEAL Team Six, months after its crowning achievement. It also was a heavy setback for the U.S.-led coalition as it begins to draw down thousands of combat troops fighting what has become an increasingly costly and unpopular war.
None of the 22 SEAL personnel killed in the crash were part of the team that killed bin Laden in a May raid in Pakistan, but they belonged to the same unit.
Their deployment in the raid in which the helicopter crashed would suggest that the target was a high-ranking insurgent figure.

Another thing that kept me awake was this email  below sent to be by my friend Donna.

Unexplainable, Inexcusable

No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay.

While Politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense.

Monday on Fox news they learned that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This will get national attention if other news networks will broadcast it. When you add this to the below, just where will all of it stop?
35 States file lawsuit against the Federal Government

Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.

This is an idea that we should address.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

If each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message.. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."

I, too, am so sad about our soldiers.

And pretty dang disgusted with Congress.

I was just saying to someone the other day that it is sickening that we have soldiers who are homeless or who can't find a job or pay their bills. They should not protect our freedoms and then be cast aside when their tour of duty is complete. In this day and age, there is too much emphasis on celebrities who get paid outrageous amounts just to entertain, when there are so many doing the real work that makes the world go round who are getting nothing in return for their efforts. Insurance companies and Congress are shameless.

Congrats on winning RMW's giveaway. Have a great week. Tammy

The problem is in addition to just reading about this we have to send the same letter to our congressmen and women. An amendment hmmmmm and doesn't it take them voting for it? Somehow, sadly, I can't see that happening. I think we're between a rock and a hard spot! If that sounds cynical - I am. I do open my mouth about things to whoever (including government and businesses) in spite of knowing it probably won't ever make any difference. Hugs to you for posting this though!

A very informative post. One I needed to read. Our military should be treated like the royalty they are.

I'm so sad for those military families mourning their losses and for the way those people who put their lives on the line are shorted on their retirement. And others with hazardous occupations -- like firemen and police -- are now being made out as greedy for wanting the pensions promised them. And all the while, those in Congress can retire with full salary after one term. That and the other perks just aren't right!! I didn't know that their kids didn't have to pay back student loans? What??? Why not? That's outrageous! And they have the gall to say we have to balance the budget by cutting back on Social Security and Medicare??

Arkansas lost one in that crash but it effects us all.
It seems so simple that laws should apply equally. They should also have be accept Medicare and social security only but they don't. Count me in.

Grandma-
I have been glued to the tv with the news about our Navy Seal Team 6. I have cried and cried some more.

I know loosing Joshua has given me more empathy for people in situations like this.

Just makes me sick!

Sinful what goes on in the USA government that the citizens of this great nation do not realize. And to think our military men & women only get 50% yet those idiots in DC get millions even if they serve as public servants for a mere few years. UGH!

Fox News is the only service that finds out, tells it like it is & gets the news out fair & blanced.

Sweet Maggie ... Would you be so kind to tell your friends to comment on my BLOG ONLY, for the Miracle Makeover fund drive. Charlie, 8 yr. old, & his story are fabulous. Every comment brings us a $1 for the next person that will be sponsored.

Have a beautiful weekend.
Hugs & love to you,
