NOTHING BUT TWO BLACK EYES AND A FEW SCRAPES

Photobucket

My dear sweet friends I am not sure how to start this post so here goes......I am sitting here tonight with two black eyes, a cut across my nose,  a big scrape on my chinny chin chin, a scrape on the  nose and forehead. Other than that I am doing fine. NO it was not Ms Pearl this time thank goodness it did not happen at work. Of course, I do look like I was in a bad fight and got the living day lights beat out of me.

Are you guys ready for this! I honestly do not know where December went to but I have really gotten behind with Christmas this year and I have no one to blame but myself. For some reason I just have not been able to accomplish that much for the holiday. They have been after me at work to burn some holiday time so I ask for last Friday off so I could shop knowing that I had to work the whole weekend.

Living in a small town I could not find what my two grandbabies wanted me to get for them. Even our Wal Mart is small so I drive an hour away to College Station (home of the Texas Aggies). My intentions were to finish in one day and that would leave me Monday and Tuesday to clean house and bake since I work the rest of the week. Well I get my hair cut and next to it is a darling little girls shop and I find a few cute things for Kaci and then I drive over to Target for my Bailey's gift. Parking lot was packed ( I wonder why) so I park on the side of the building with other cars and walk around to the front of the store. When I step up on the curb and turn to go around the building a young man riding his bicycle runs into me. (riding on the sidewalk) Needless to say it was quite the shock to turn and see him there. I had no time to think or dodge him and I went flying. Gosh if only I could see the video of this I am sure if they played it back at the store there had to be some laughs at a ole lady tumbling around the Target sidewalk. Somehow I ended up face down and skidded of all things on my face. It was the strangest feeling when I could not control anything and stop my body from sliding along with the ole face against the concrete. I remember thinking OH MAN this not going to be good whenever I do come to a stop. lol

Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers because a couple walking near by came over and helped me up and gave me some kleenix for my bleeding nose and helped me into the store. They of course, were more than kind and insisted I let them put ice on my head and lay down for a minute or two. I had no choice but to do since I was bleeding and only wanted out of site from all the people gathering around to see what had happened.

I told them the sad story of what my DL told me to find for Bailey and they sent someone to see if they had it. No luck! I stayed maybe a half hour or so with the ice pack and then after looking in the mirror I knew my shopping day was over before it really even began. On top of all that I did not like my haircut either. lol No matter no one even noticed my hair.

It was a long drive home mainly because I was so mad at myself for waiting til the last minute to do Kaci and Baileys gifts knowing how important their gifts were to me. Why why why do I put things off. When will I ever learn.

The next morning I get up at 3:30 to go to work and after feeding the kitty I look into the mirror. Oh my gosh ladies those little scrapes had turned into big scrapes and black and blue colors to go along with a swollen nose that has a cut across it and yes two big shiners. Not one but TWO.
I jumped back from the mirror thinking dear God who or what is looking back at me from the mirror. I thought to myself after the second or third look into the mirror there is no way I can go to work today. Not only did I look like crap but my body felt like Ms Pearl had stomped on her all night long. I sit down in my bedroom and talk to myself trying to figure out what to do because in my field calling in sick is almost impossible. Several times I picked up the phone to call my SGT but I knew no matter how many times I tried to explain to him my situation that theres no way he would believe me.............So then I had to do a double spin in order to be dressed and out the door on time.

Take it from one that knows......makeup does not hide black eyes or skin scrapes plus it hurts to put it on but I am one of those few ladies left in the world that will not go outside to take the garbage out without makeup.

To make a long story short .....I slowly walked in to the shift meeting with my head down trying not to let everyone see me but it only took one Officer and then it was all over. Being all men you can imagine the remarks and jokes that were thrown my way. I survived work knowing that my blog friends would understand and not laugh or make fun of their friend. Even though if you could see me I promise you might be tempted. Especially Ms Bunny!

I was hoping Santa would bring me a digital and I could take pictures of my Christmas and put them on here but guess who want be posing for his snapshots this year.

You might just call me Rudolph if I did!  Oh if your wondering about the guy on the bicycle he was an Aggie and jumped back on his bike and ran off. A hit and run with me involved. Good gosh what a day and I was not even working. (I never should have mentioned the ex running off with a ugly woman because now look at me)

Not sure if I will be doing the Temptation Mondays post because so far I have not heard from anyone that wants their goodies advertised and I know how busy the next four days will be. Hopefully I can resume it after Christmas if anyone still wants to have their work on it.

How I will manage to finish by Thursday is beyond me but it always seems to get done.

Oh if anyone is doing a Blue and Black mosaic Monday I could help them with their post. lol
HO HO HO

Sweet Dreams

Wow Maggie, I wish there was something I could do from my end of the world.
I can't imagine feeling that bad and still having so much to get done.
Hey, it will come together, sometimes there are things that just have to wait.
I hope you get it done
HUGS and Merry Christmas.

Oh Maggie, what a mess! I am so sorry that this happened to you. I could tell you were trying to make light of this but I know it isn't funny. I hope you get better soon.
This was bad but I am having visions in my head of how much worse this could have been.
Hugs, (not too hard though. I know you are sore. LOL), Sue

Oh Ms Maggie:
What a hell of an eventful day you had!!!
Murphy's Law will now be called Maggie's Law ; 0
Were you ever able to find Bailey's gift?
Maybe if Mz Pearl had shown herself the hit and run bicyclist would have stopped to assist you !!!
Feel better, sweet friend

Dear Maggie:
And I thought I was the one with the colorful stories! You Win!!!!
What a crappy thing to happen. It's probably a good thing I wasn't with you. I might have had to woop some hit-and-run crazy biker butt for you!
Seriously, I'm so sorry you were hurt. I hope you're feeling and looking better soon, and that you're not a technicolor grandma yellowhair for Christmas.
Careful and healing hugs,
Donna

Hi Maggie..and after hearing your story.. I'm sending many hugs your way. I can't believe that someone could be so cruel as to run you over and not even stop to help.I'm so sorry it happened and I sure hope you got checked by your doctor. Somehow things will get done... but if every little pickle on the relish tray isn't perfect..so what?? Who's gonna know?? Rest and take care...and have a Merry and most Blessed Christmas.

I'm speechless! Yeah, I know. I'm at a loss for witty comebacks. This just isn't the time. It's the time for...

BIG HUGS and don't worry, beat up faces aren't so bad. When you hug your facing over someone's shoulder so they can't see your face. It will heal and it won't be so bad. I Promise! Girlfriend, I'm soooo sorry you had this hit and run. I can only imagine how sore you are after doing a face plant into the cement then adding a slip and slide to that.

If anyone asks, just look them right in the eye and tell them you were in a bar fight and you won! Oh, well, maybe not. I forgot you are in Texas where that probably happens a lot.

I recommend...who's that again, Clint Eastwood. He seems like the kind of fellow that could make healing much easier if he were around. Hope you are feeling better very soon!

Oh My Gosh...
Haven't I told you not to go shopping alone. It is dangerous out there. And just where was Ms. Pearl when you needed her? What kind of friend is she?

I say give the grandson some "money", and he can go out there and get what he wants. That is what I am doing this year. I only shopped for the 2 little ones, the oldest 5 are on their own with money in tow. I think once Bailey gets a look at you, he will agree you need to stay home locked inside until after the holidays.

I guess us blogger gals need to go down to that police station and kick a little butt. They haven't met all of our Ms. Pearl(s) have they? Never laugh at a lady when she is hurting.

That's all right sweetie. We are right here for you. Just give us a holler when you need us. Sorry you have to spend the holiday with those damn peacock colors. Be careful putting that makeup on, remember you have to remove it at some point.

Please be careful. I am so sorry you were injured, but thankful it wasn't hospital serious.

Country hugs sweetie and so much love, Sherry

Oh you poor thing. bless your heart. I hope that bike driver at least made sure you were ok before heading off. Don't be dismayed. I'm certain things will work out for the best.

If anyone stares, just say "yeah, you should see the other guy. I won." I know that is an old and corny line but it will give you a little bit of a smile and buy time to not explain. Get better.

Oh My!
What a story!
I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. =0/

I am so sorry for your bad hair, get run over, not get your Christmas shopping done day. And not even a digital camera to record it and share!!

Thanks for coming by my place and leaving a comment.
I would love to do your temptations Monday. Will go to one of your old posts and take a look and see what it is.

I'm sure probably a lot of people are busy right now, but one right after Christmas would be great.

re Christmas: I'm in the same boat you are in.
5 grand kids, 3 kids, and 1 present bought.
We have a tree because someone gave it to us, and i threw a few ornies from our store on it so i did not have to get our 2 boxes down.
Can you tell we are not over the top Christmas people?
So now just to get in the mood, and get out there and get it done!!

I do pray God's blessings on your Christmas, and look forward to getting to know you more.

Blessings

Yep...I'm tempted but I won't. I think it's more serious than your letting on. What a moron that guys was...and a bad hair day to boot.

Magpie, What's important is that you take care of yourself and don't worry about shopping and whatnot...people (family) will understand.

Uggggghhh...what a freakin' jerk. Santa won't be bringin' him anything...he doesn't even deserve a piece of coal..lol Take care you and enjoy your Christmas.

OH you poor dear! I am reading this with my hand over my mouth in horror of what you must be feeling like. And what idiot guys you must work with for not insisting you go home and rest that day... Not to mention the one on the bike....

Hope you are feeling better soon, I can't imagine. I play broomball all the time, I know, those black eyes hurt!!! Ouch! Don't be too hard on yourself about the presents. Just telling them your story, and they will forget about the presents.

Take care,
Kate
Okay, I totally have to confess, I did laugh while reading your post. But only at the ex and the ugly woman remark... and only a teensy bit...

Oh Maggie! So sorry to hear what happened. I can't believe the boy would just run off like that and not even see what happened to you. Makes you wonder what he will do when he is driving a car. So glad that there were good samaritans there to help you out. Many people just walk by and do nothing and that is just awful! Christmas will come and go whether you get it all done or not. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to do so much. My Aunt Elaine always says money is the perfect size and color for everyone. Hope that you are starting to feel better and that your face will heal up quickly. Take care and just take it easy as much as you can. Holiday blessings :) Tammy

Beyond a BUMMER....of my gosh.. ! ! I guess you did get teased at work. But just one look would tell them that you could not have made this one up.
I hope they nailed the guy who hit you with his bike !!! You did not say I don't think.
I am sorry...not a good way to spend the Holiday's with two black eyes and the discomfort of the injuries.

Maggie, I posted this on my blog for you...but wanted to make sure you saw it.

Maggie, only this grandson graduated from
A & M..the other graduated from Sam Houston State..they were each studying very different courses.
** Altho they are identical twins, they have such different personalities..and interests.
But PROUD can't even describe what we feel about them as superior students, and as great young men.
College Station is a nice litle town.

Nothing got broken? But your spirit? Ohhhhh, boo hiss on the men. They have no compassion, just jokes.

Well now...I came here to say have a glorious Christmas then read all this. Funny part tho..."I didn't like my haircut". That made me laugh.

Anywho...have a great holiday

Aw you ladies brought tears to this black and blue face of mine. Just wanted to say how much I love all of you and your caring, sometimes funny words lifted me this morning and YES I will finish everything and if I don't then maybe no one will even notice (they will be too busy looking at the map on my face)lol
This did teach me several lessons. 1. Never never tell the world that your ex is married to a ugly women cause now the his ex is not to hot looking.hahahahah(not that I ever was mind you) 2. Pay more attention to your blogger friends they were not putting all the Christmas decorations on their site for nothing. They were trying to tell you Christmas is coming.
Thank you all so much. I am off of here and to heck with the banged up face I am out to find the prefect present for Bailey. You girlfriends gave me the strengh to get up and get going
Love you

Oh poor dear Maggie, my heart goes out to you. This Ozarks farm chick is always goin' full force and gettin' myself hurt. Last week I dropped a hammer on a bare foot from about 5ft. up. A block of ice flung from the freezer wackin' the same dang foot. While gettin' in wood my wheelbarrow collapsed and of course me going waaay to fast collapsed on top of it leaving me on the ground rolling around just for the cats pleasure. At least my map is across my hidden chest and not my face. The perp better not get anything good in his stocking this year!!!

Take care sweet lady and I sure hope ya'll heal up quickly! God bless!!!

I don't cuss so I'll just say, that guy is a big hunking, stinkin' piece of poop! But I don't know if I can blame him directly. It's the way of life now. People, especially men, seem to have forgotten to teach their son's to be men so they think running instead of apologizing is the answer. I'm so sorry for what happened to you but you shouldn't worry about gifts. Take care of yourself, that's what matters.
Have a Wonderful Christmas.

oh, MAGGIE! how awful! i can't believe he just kept right on going after knocking you over! i'm so sorry to hear this happened to you, but relieved that you're okay! it's nice to hear that some people were good enough to stop what they were doing to assist.

as for the black eyes, UGH! i'm sure the egging from the guys at work has been just wonderful. you could always colour those bruises red and green for christmas, or glitter them up! :)

i had a (not remotely) similar thing happen to me once when i walked out to my kitchen in the middle of the night and my sweet kitten, Sabrina, got under my foot and i smacked my face into the wall. woke up the next morning looking like a raccoon, and that sexy look lasted for nearly two weeks! it's a good thing i love animals!

Maggie, your blog has skyrocketed to the top of my MUST READ list. you are a real gem. (maybe even a pearl!)
