Oh What A Night!

As I mentioned in my last post a friend of mine had an extra ticket to the Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly show last Saturday night and I joined her mainly to keep her from going to Dallas alone.

I do not follow Fox News but do turn it on now and then. I am familar with Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly but never had the desire to see them in person but it was quite the experience. Not following them like my friend I really did not know what to expect. The first part of the show Beck talked maybe 45 minutes and then O'Reilly came out for about the same length of time and after a short break they both came back together for another hour.

It seems when they were together they really got crazy and did not hold back on their views. Especially when it came to Obama and the women on the View. I knew their views about Obama and they assured the audience that even a jackass could run against him in the next election and win. They gave their views on who they thought would be the next President and then they started on the ladies of the View. I mentioned in my last post one of the things O'Reilly said about Joy Behar. Well that was bad but not near as bad as this. He said, " It's Saturday night and I guarantee Joy is at home with a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other talking to her cats. One day they will find her dead and eaten by her cats!"

Isn't that horrible to say about someone. Yet he got the laughs he was after. Then he had a few things to say about Whoopi which for some reason I can't remember but then he started on Barbara Walters. He talked about how old she was and that she should of retired 40 years ago. According to him no one her age should be in front of the cameras. He then said, "Everyday they hang Barbara upside down on a hook in a closet for at least four hours before she goes on the air." I gather he was saying they do this to get her blood flowing to her brain. I don't know but once again he brought the house down with laughs.

He also talked about Joy Behar and Whoopi walking off the stage when he was a guest on The View the last time and he said he loved it and he only wish the other three had disappeared so he could of promoted his book for the last 45 minutes of the show. I doubt very seriously he will be a guest on the View ever again. lol

Some of the program was interesting listening to their views but when they started pooping on people I was stunned and surprised that people paid what they did to see these two.

My friend loves loves Fox news. She goes to sleep listening to it. That night in the Hotel room I all but begged her to turn it off so I could sleep but she can't sleep without it. So it stayed on all night. lol

I have to tell you something really crazy about the two of us after the show ended we are sitting in the parking lot with a thousand other cars trying to get out of the parking lot. Barbara realizes that we have no gas. I look over and YEP we are past empty. Here we are stuck in traffic and on empty. We finally get out of the parking lot and instead of going back the way we came she decides to go a different route to find a gas station. I told her not too because I know little about driving in Dallas especially downtown and I know how easy it is to get lost in that city. Well she kept driving and soon we were in a part of town that no one wants to be in during daylight much less dark. Finally we see a station and we Praise God that we did not run out of gas. I made her stay in the car while I put enough in to get us to the hotel.

Would you believe that after we got the gas neither one of us had no glue clue how to find our hotel. Neither one of us knew the street it was on. All we knew it was the Marriott. We discovered this when I ask Barbara about her having a GPS in her car. She said she did but never had used it and then I ask her the name of the street and she did not know so I realized we were in the bad part of Dallas with no clue where to go to and what address. So we turn around try to go back the way we came and ended up really mixed up.

I hate to admit to you how long this went on. Poor Barabara was getting really upset so I made her pull over and let me drive. Not that I knew I could do better I just felt so bad for her. So while I am in the drivers seat I notice a ON Star thing on the rear view mirror. I asked her if she had On Star and she said Yes and I was like OMG we have been lost all this time in the ghetto and she has On Star. You just want to bang your head on the steering wheel. I pushed the button and explain to the young man our problem and he can tell we are both beside ourselves by this time and he tries to calm Barbara down. Finally he gets the addresses of the Marriotts for us and we realize the one we are at and he talks me street by street up to their driveway. I wanted to kiss the young man.

The way we were acting while he was on the phone with us I am really surprised that he did not call the police and have them pull us over. He had to have thought we were both drunk. I mean it was totally two ole women freaking out because this had been going on way too long.

I still can not believe that help was just a button away. Lord help me! Of course we could laugh about it the next day but boy was it not funny that night. hahaha

Then back at the hotel I am putting my Jammies on and realize that my diamond tennis bracelet was no longer on my wrist. I hardly ever wear it because I am always afraid of loosing it well I did loose it and whoever finds it will have a early Christmas present. I don't have a lot of diamonds so I really hate that I lost this.

Don't forget to enter mine and LuLu's giveaway. It ends today at midnight! Good luck to all of you that enter.

Hope your having a good week. I am trying my best not to panic wtih the holidays being so close. I have been known to do that. Been busy the last few days making candy. Take care and Love to All

You are a true friend. I don't think I could have sat through all that negativity.

HOOTIN' ANNI said...

I would give my two ovaries to see Glenn Beck in person. But alas, I have no ovaries left!!

HOOTIN' ANNI said...

...which means, of course, I could not, would not see Mr. Beck come high water or heck.

Blah...bleck, yukky person.

Dear Maggie:
You're a true friend. I watch the news on Fox, but I really don't like Beck and can't stand O'Reilly. Beck is too alarmist and O'Reilly is too "sensational". I think the only good thing about either of them is when they're turned off...and I'm a Republican! Guess it's true that there are good and bad people on either side, right?

I think it's a good thing that you were with your friend. God knows what could have happened to her (getting lost with no gas-no matter where she was!) if you hadn't been along to add some common sense to the equation. (Imagine that! lol)

That fudge is truly awesome. There are going to be some happy recipients, for sure. TTYS, my friend.

Good Morning Maggie Sweetie...
Oh I can't believe that you went to hear that idiot Beck or O'Reilly. Such obnoxious men. I don't know maybe men is to nice of a word for them. Sorry you got roped into that trip and then to end up lost. All the while only a button away. I am so glad you took over the driving and discovered that button. Thank God you got connected with a patient young man who was able to guide you back to safety.

It is no fun to get lost, and end up in a BAD side of town. Horror stories that are true, have been told about that.

Well I have added my name once again to the fudge drawing. Marydon assures me it is TDF, and she is one great judge of the candy dish. She loves her sweets.

Hope you are feeling better sweet friend. I am trying to fight another sore throat and infection. Battling again with antibiotics. Have a great Wednesday sweetie. Many hugs and SO much love, Sherry

Oh my, Maggie, the adventures you have! I am so sorry to hear you lost your diamond tennis bracelet, but I am glad to hear that you found your way back to your hotel okay. I don't watch Fox news myself, but I have heard of Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly. I still have some gifts to get and sometimes I panic when it gets too close to Christmas. It is usually for the people that I have no idea what to get that causes that delay.

Harold & I are in STITCHES, sweet Maggie. You are such a refreshing morn waker upper.

I am so sorry that you have lost your diamond bracelet. I hope it will turn up somewhere. Once Mother lost a ring & a couple years later as she turned the mattress she saw something sparkle on the bed springs ... & there it was.

I can literally picture this scene, myself. You are TOO cute ... & I'll bet that kid on OS is having a good laugh, too.

Love Glenn Beck & Bill O'Reilly ... I guess if you watched The View you would enjoy their retort to The View in their humors.

Oh, golly, Harold NEVER turns off Fox News, 24/7 day & NIGHT in this house, in every room so he doesn't miss a thing.

Oh, how I wish we lived next door to yo in that cottage ... what a BLAST we'd have all day & night.

Love you, sweet friend.
Have a beautiful Christmas ~
TTFN, Hugs ~

I laughed all the way through this post until the part about the bracelet and then I wanted to cry. Did you check the car and call the hotel to see if it was found in the room??
I hope with all my heart it turns up. Nobody deserves diamonds more than you!
Hugs, Kim

Thats the trouble with the far right and the far left...they go too far! Sorry about the bracelet Maggie, darn it! Have a good month! ;D

Maggie, I'm so sorry that you lost your diamond bracelet and that your adventure was on the dangerous side. Hopefully your bracelet will turn up somewhere... A girl who forgets to take her sunglasses off while driving at night just might have forgotten to put the bracelet on her wrist in the first place. Check your jewelry box.

I'll say a little prayer to St Antoine de Padue , the patron saint of lost object. I hope that he will help. Check every crevices of your car.

A nice person like you is made of diamond any way. Hope your day goes well. JB

Wow you gals really know how to have a good time!!! I am sorry I missed all that.
I also have a friend who adores Glenn Beck, I myself try to avoid the news (not good for the soul), and all shows like The View just because I get tired of everyone all talking at the same time. Geez my family was like that and I hated it then too.
Your experience reminded me of the first time my mother was driving in Houston and got lost and ended up in the 5th Ward. My brother got out to use the payphone and upon reaching my uncle (who nearly had a heart attack when he realized where they were)a couple of young local guys walked over and believe it or not gave my mother directions to get back to the our family's house. My uncle figures it must have been the Canadian license plate and they felt sorry for them! Either way they made it back safely.
I will write to you later Maggie and sorry I have been overwhelmed here and haven't answered your comment on my blog.
Love ya and take care...
Tina xo

First of all, I am so sad that you lost your diamond bracelet. That just stinks.

And I'm definitely glad I was not there to hear Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck, both of whom annoy me, lambast others.

Other than that, though, this sounds like a fun trip with your friend. And the On Star story is hilarious!

Your post definately held my attention and I would have been scared to. I think you need to send that story to Readers Digest or something and have it printed and maybe even get paid.

I am so sorry to hear about your diamond bracelet, I hope that you just forgot to put it on.
I do not like those 2 at all. I would have gave the tickets away and went sight seeing.LOL
I feel this world has enough hatred without trying to get laughs at someone else's expense.
Hugs sweet friend

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your bracelet, that is so sad.
I have to say that I really enjoy Beck and Bill. As far as blasting everyone, where on any news does that not happen. Nobody ever says anything nice anymore, it's such a shame. Char

You're a better friend than me. I wouldn't have listened to those two idiots if you paid me a million dollars to do so. Literally. I find them repugnant. Not to mention how they act toward women.

Arkansas Patti said...

Brenda Kula said it all for me. Only thing worse would have been to have had Ann Coulter between them.
So sorry about your bracelet. I'd check with the hotel. You never know, there are quite a few honest people out there.
Wish all cars had On Star, what a life saver.

Sweet could make your own party anywhere you go! Thank heavens you made it back to the hotel safely. Sorry about your bracelet *sigh*

I remember when he was on a local Chicago station. He wasn't at all the same. He's really a mean-spirited person now, but I guess that's his schtick.

That's too bad O Reilly was pooping on people, totally looses credibility.

As for you and your friend. Oh, my heck!!!! I wish I would have been in the backseat.....LAUGHING MY GUTS OUT AT YOU!!!!!!

So sorry about the tennis bracelet. That's awful!

Oh my goodness Maggie that trip to the gas station sounds very scary. I am so glad that the On Star person got you out of that place and to your hotel.
And then to top it off you loose your bracelet.
A little story about lost my son's wedding my BFF lost her bracelet. She was sure it was at the wedding or in the parking lot. She had us going over the morning after looking near and far for that bracelet.
No luck.........that was in
November (years ago)......lo and behold come Spring as I was walking to my car at home I see something shiny.....her bracelet. She had stopped by my house on the way to the wedding to let our dogs out. I still can't believe I found that bracelet. I am hoping that yours shows up somewhere.
I have to find that giveway for your fudge.
Don't stress, I started to but have since chilled out about it. XO

I have GPS and love it when traveling. I program it and am disappointed if some spot is not in the database.

My husband hates it as he does not hear well, a necessity, if you don't want to pull off the road and look at it. I usually am the navigator looking at the map.

I don't have ON STAR.

Take it easy on Christmas . I have discovered some traditions can be changed and I enjoy Christmas just as much as when I was young.

Heeehehhe! Lost in paradise and ya'll have On~star!!! I sure feel for ya losin' your pretty bracelet. I never did find the diamond I lost out of my ring about a year ago, nor has it been replaced. {{{SIGH}}} I'm so vain I feel like Carley Simon. :o)

What an experience! I'm not a big fan of the gals on The View, but I wouldn't have enjoyed his attacks on them. Oh well, I'm sure it's all about getting the laughs and the ratings.

I think I've just become a fan of this On Start technology!

June said...

Oh Maggie you two were a pair in Dallas.LOL! Now that's a trip you'll remember. So sorry about the bracelet though.
I laughed and laughed over the 'being lost' and On Star was just a button away. But hey, had it not happened you'd have never got to talk to the nice On Star guy!!!

Shirley said...

Maggie, Reading this adventure makes me think about the trip I saw the Dallas Cowboys stadium five times. When I travel, you have to tell me so many blocks then turn right or left you can't tell me north, west east, or south because I will get turned around for sure. I am sorry you lost your bracelet. I can remember ending up in some bad areas before. I was always told by a security officer at the hospital if you seen something you didn't like and the light was red go through it if nothing was coming. Isn't Onstar god sent. It can unlock vehicles also and get you help what ever you need. Take care my friend. Your Missouri Friend.
