AM I LOOSING MY MIND!

Another post about how to handle getting older.
Tonights issue will cover the problems you can encounter with the mind.

First before I start about the mind I want to thank all you for your comments and I hope that everyone can help with these issues by leaving comments.
Remember this is suppose to be a learning experience!
Ok where to start with the mind thing. I guess yesterday would be a good start and go from there. Remember the post before about the hair issues and a comment was left by JOJO to just carry your tweezers around with you. Well I thought that was a really smart thing to start doing espeically working in the public and not wanting the hair to show on my chinny chin chin. An Officer brings in a guy with a warrant and he ask me for my handcuff key. I reach into the pocket I keep my key in  and handed him my tweezers. The look on his face was priceless and it took me a minute or two to realize what I had done.  (Thanks JOJO)
Then today I am trying to click on Shardon Exclusives to visit her site and her site was not posted in my friends I visit list.  Now how could her name not be there when I love her and her site. I felt terrible and so forgetful but what was even worse when I went to her site I had not joined it yet. Scary very Scary that my mind is seemly slipping slowly.
Is this a problem you all have too or not?
Also I think that the older I get, the braver I get with doing things that are pretty silly or ridculous. For example, not to long ago I worked in a prison and our Warden was a big country Teddy Bear but he thought he was the roughest cowboy in Texas and that we all feared him. One day I noticed he was limping and I ask the Captain what happen to him. He laughed and said that he had fallen from his horse the day before and was madder than all get out about it. (I guess its a Texas thing about staying on your horse) Well that evening on my way home from work I went to a Five and Dime Store and bought him a Stick Horse. I attached a note to it saying "See if You Can Stay On This One!"  The next morning before he showed up for work I tied the stick horse to his desk.
Needless to say when he went into his office and found it you would of thought an Inmate had escaped as loud as that man was screaming. lol
First place he went was to find me.
The day he retired I remember watching him carry out that stick horse with his other belongings.

Back to the future......About a week ago a woman is arrested and when I am taking her handcuffs off she gets really aggitated and arguementive. She is threatening to kick my a.... all over the station so like before I knew it Ms. Pearl comes to the surface and tells this woman that is bigger than most men to come on with it. Ms Pearl even went as far as taking her utility belt off and motions with her hands to the woman to come on. Immediately I knew that I had lost my mind. Why would I do something that stupid. Thank God that woman remembered where she was and backed off. Later my partner shakes his head at me and I told him no need to scold me I was going to do enough of that to myself.
It's like I sometimes I turn into Katy Bates in the movie Green Fried Tomatoe's
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZhmZxPWni0&feature
where she keeps ramming those teenagers volkswagon because they got her parking space and she makes a remark about being older and having more insurance.
Another issue with my mind and wondering if you too do this but I can put something away where I think it is safe and for the life of me when I need it there is no way I can find it.  The sad thing is I might have just did it. Scary really scary.
I can not tell you how many times I have put cookies in the oven and walked off and left them there until they are toooooo hard to eat. Just tonight I thought I would try to make some Quesidillas and put them on and started doing some cleaning. I guess Dotty Forrest (my dog) will get these. She will love them.
The old farm house I live in has one of those old locks on it where it locks when you close the door. Take a guess how man times I have had to get the ladder and climb into the second floor window I have now hidden several keys outside. I know your thinking will she remember where they are. Right!~
My question is to all of you is this normal for someone my age or do these issues even have anything to do with age.  lol
Now its your turn to tell me about some of your experiences.

OH AND I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THE CANDY GIVEWAY THAT I MAKE WHITE CHOCOLATE PEANUT CLUSTERS TOO! SO ANOTHER DECISION YOU HAVE TO MAKE IF YOU WIN.
REMEMBER THE GIVEAWAY DEADLINE IS MIDNIGHT THANKSGIVING.

Oh boy, do I relate to this one! My kids are always making fun of me as I am dragging out Christmas gifts all year long as I have hidden them and then forget where I put them! I spend half of my life looking for something, whether it be my keys, a certain shirt I want to wear, a book or whatever!!!

Thanks for stopping by! This spellcheck thing is making me mad! I too thought the ABC was the spellcheck and the line was through the words. There must be someone out there in the Blogasphere that knows what's going on!!!! HELP! Maybe if we keep asking someone will come up with the solution. I love spellcheck!!!!!

Have a great weekend and keep those posts coming, I am enjoying them!!!

Oh my goodness! This made me laugh! I don't think your losing your mind it just sounds like you have a lot on it. I seem to have similar troubles chasing after and taking care of 4 children, husband and household, I often become very forgetful! It can be a bit disconcerting at times! Hang in there your not in this alone! :)

Ha ha, girl you crack me up! I love the story of the horse, that must have been told at many a coffee break!!!!
I am always forgetting things in the oven, or the water boiling.... I've come back into the kitchen to find the windows all steamed up and then realize I've left a pot of water on high!!!
I am sure we all have these moments ....... crap, we are getting old!

Unfortunately you are not alone. I was baking bread one time and I put a loaf in the oven to rise (it was off)...went off to do something or other, thought I forgot to pre heat the oven (i did) and proceeded to turn it on, went about my business when I started to smell bread....hmmm, I thought, who's baking bread...HOLY C*#P...it was me. Or the time I was to meet a friend for breakfast on a Thursday...sat in my car for a half an hour waiting...finally called her...it was Friday.

Yep, it's part of getting old..no getting around it. The good news...er, well, I'll get back to ya!

Is it getting old or hormones or both? I've started bath water and went to vacuuming and you can guess what happened there. Last week I put some walnuts in a small container to take to work with me. For the life of me, I couldn't find that container. Two days later, I found it in the crisper in the fridge. That same day, I had put baby carrots with the kids lunch. I start something in one room, go to another room, remember I want to do something else, and the 10 other things I was doing are long forgotten. Some days I feel like I don't accomplish much at all because I can't seem to stay on task with any one thing! Your job sounds quite interesting. I am glad Ms. Pearl is there to help you cope. HA! Best wishes to you and thanks for visiting! :) Tammy

I'm not sure how old you are, but I am tempted to say "wait until you get to be my age"! That's when you start doing all of these things you mentioned, but then you don't remember doing them, so it doesn't matter!! laurie

Oh, I sure enjoyed your post about losing one's mind at a certain age. The stick horse story is great! I have to tell you, my older son is a police officer (over 25 years now) in Ohio, so I'm partial to folks who work in law enforcement.

The worst forgetful thing I did was last year when I went to church, and came out an hour later to find that my car was still running! Forgot to turn it off! Oi Veh!

Thanks so much for visiting my neglected blog, and your kind comment. Have a fun weekend.

Renie

PS. I live in the boonies as well, in the beautiful Ozarks, on a hundred acres of woods, where it's deer season right now, not my favorite time of the year. :-(

Back when they made that movie Fried Green Tomatoes, of course I wasn't 52 then. So the scene where Kathy Bates did that I just shook my head. Of course now I think it is just the most priceless thing! Because I'm apt to do it myself! As soon as I turned 50 my mouth started yapping whatever came into my head, foul or otherwise, and it's truly scary at times! I can't remember what I went into the next room for, where my purse is, or sometimes whether to scratch my a** or wind my watch! Getting old is scary, but rather amusing!

Hello sweet Maggie...
Oh darling do I ever love this darn post. Sweetie they just keep getting better all the time. I fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard, and I have to tell you I am going to feel this tomorrow. Scared the family half to death I made such a racket in the office area.

My mouth came with my 50th birthday too.
With me, it is the younger ones at work looking down their noses at us that have gotten older, like we don't know anything. It just really aggrevates the tar out of me. I have worked there for 17 years, and darnit they could give me a little respect. Darn that really does get my goat. Here's one for you:

We have a little smart A** at work. He is always pulling stunts calling us on our phones, when we are working, and interrupts just because he knows it pisses us off. He is much younger than us. (I am 52) I'd say he is in his lat 20's. He smurks you know, you just want to wipe that darn smurk right off his face, well I did this past week. I was so busy trying to get this program loaded on the system, and he kept calling, I'd roll my chair over to pick up the phone, and he'd hang up. He'd wait for me to roll my chair back, and then he'd call again. Well I scooted my chair back with my foot, and stayed right there on top of my phone. He called and I grabbed it, saying in the nicest voice Hello. He said, "Uh Yes, I'd like to order a pizza." I thought for a minute and then in the nicest, sexiest voice I said, "Well tell me son, just what would you like on that pizza?" He hung up. I laughed and laughed and laughed. Smart A**!! He didn't call me back the rest of the week. I should have pulled that a long time ago, as it sure shut him up. I can't wait for this week to see what happens.

I turned 50 and I don't know what happened, I just suddenly came to life. I got tired of being walked on and ran over. I guess Kathy Bates represents all of us 50 and over.

And girl I have lots of those face hairs too. I carry a spare tweezer also. I have it figured out though. I keep my tweezers in my left pocket only. Everything else goes in the right. I've been coloring my hair for years as I am a blonde and my hair has came in battleship grey. Ugly as sin. I refuse to have grey, so I color. Gonna wash that grey right outa my hair. Does that ring a bell? Who'd of thought?

Have a sweet evening Ms Maggie, and know that you are not alone. Sounds like we are all in the same boat. Wish we lived closer together, we could all have a big sleep over and laugh all night. How fun would that be?

Stop by soon. Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

Okay Mags:
I keep coming back and read something I missed before; becoming "mature" : )
I cannot tell you how many times I have locked my keys out of the car or the apartment : ( I keep a spare apartment door key in my wallet now and AAA gets my money for the car : )
My Mom, she is 100, has dementia. When she first got it she told me it is okay; "Why do I care if I remember what I had for breakfast or whomever called on the phone will call again and it will all be brand new" : ) She reads her small town newspaper from the front page to the last and say she can do it more than once a day : ) Her life's attitude is what I strive for as I age!!!
Have a great Sunday

Hi everyone and thank you thank you for commenting. I do appreciate these comments. It is somewhat a relief to know sometimes that your not in this aging process by yourself even thou I hate to see your all having the same experiences. Like they say Aging is not for the Weak or something like that. It certainly isn't for Ms Pearl because she has no control.
Thanks again for visiting
