Sometimes You Need to Ask for Help!

and Sometimes a Picture tells it all!

How can I ever thank you all for the prayers, emails, comments, cards and flowers. Each of you have given me a much needed peace this past week. Christi has been an angel and is still by my side.
She has laughed and cried with me this week! Of course waited on me hand and foot.
Since this happened at work I can not go into full detail as they are still doing their investigations but I can say that I fell from about three or four feet and coming down I hit the back of my head on something very very hard and then landed face down on the floor. I remember when I hit my head and thinking oh my gosh did someone move a safe in here! As far as hitting the floor I must of been out by then because I don't have any memory of landing. My partner found me and called EMS. I remember them asking me a dozen questions and when they put the neck brace and board on my back that is when I realized the pain.
After they get me in the ER, I laid there praying that I did not break my neck. The partner that found me had broke his neck the year before and my mom before she passed away had broke hers in a car accident.
I also had other crazy thoughts that only I could have.....I remember thinking OH NO they can't undress me I  am harrier than the Sasquatch guy! Then I remembered the night before I had started doing a pedicure and only managed to do one foot when the phone rang and never went back to finish.  Along with the hairy legs and half pedicure I thought of the granny panties that I had put on that morning and my socks did not match my uniform and my boots were not polished the way they should be......then on top of all of these thoughts the nurse ask me when was the last time I had a bowel movenment and I thought OH NO did I crap in my pants during the fall. I am telling you guys all kinds of thoughts were going through this pea brain of mine while laying under the bright lights of ER and not being able to move anything. They had taped me to the board and I thought I was paralized because I could not move anything.
Then I had thoughts of you guys and wondered if I would ever get to enjoy your sites again or write a post myself. Of course I thought I wish my kids were here....
Finally they do a Cat Scan and nothing was broken but I did have the concussion which is my second in less than two years but I know how lucky I am.
Work had called my brother Billy and he and my sister-in-law Linda picked me up and took me to their home until Christi arrived from Austin.
The next day my partner called me to check on me and being the crazy guy he is ask me if I remembered the questions they had asked me while I was lying on the floor. It seems I had told them my age and this was a no no because all the Officers especially him have wondered and asked my age but never would I tell them the truth. Well they all know it now.....hahahaha  They are working with a ole woman!
So other than hurting like heck I am alright. The headaches and back aches are the worse and I was told I would have the headaches for at least 4 to 6 months. I go back to my doctor in College Station tomorrow morning and hopefully he will release me for work......  I of course lay here worried about how far behind I am now with my ranch chores but it will work out.
Need to close because Christi is standing over me telling me back to bed.  I really need to proof read this but guess it is back to bed also I can't see the screen that good so no telling what this post will read. hahahah
Just had to let you know that I think of all of you often and love you!
Thanks so much for loving me the way you do.
The comments have eased my worries and pain so thank you my dear friends...
Love to all,
Maggie

I was determined to contact you somehow today so when I saw your post I was excited to say the least.
Whatever happened, I am so sorry, sounds like it was bad. So glad that you are doing well. It will take some time esp. if you had a recent other concussion.
I spent some time on the back board after an accident a couple years back. I'm claustrophobic, trust me, it was getting ugly.
If you could send me an email with your addy when you feel better.
((((HUGS))))

Dear Maggie;
How you manage a funny post in the midst of such personal pain is truly beyond me. I felt so bad sitting here laughing at the middle section of your message! (Shame on me!)

When you or Christi read this message, please email me your address. I'd like to add my small gift to your "Get Well" haul.

I love you and miss your daily posts. Please heal faster than they expect, so you're back to us whole soon.

Maggie, I am so glad you are OK! How scary!!!
Sorry us nurses ask about your bowel movements. We just want to know how bad it's gonna be when you ask for a bedpan. That's a job we may turf on to one of our unsuspecting co-workers if you say you haven't had one in a week!

You better behave from now on. You are an old lady and all! I love ya!!!!!!

So glad to hear you weren't hurt when you decided to swing from the rafters and lost your handing (footing?). You better watch your step girlie. Hope the headaches don't last long and that you are up and moving along very fast. You are made of "tough stuff." Keep that smile on your face and incredible sense of humor and you will be like new before you know it!!!

It is so good to hear from you! I have been thinking of you often and hoping that you are on the mend!

What a scary ordeal you went through! Thank goodness it was terribly serious. I am so glad that you have your daughter there to take care of you.

Don't worry about getting behind. It will all get done soon enough. It is a shame we all don't live closer. We could come and help out, but I would have to leave the tractor driving to you. One concussion is enough.

Get some rest and heal up. By the way...how old are you...??? Just kidding.

Love~

Maggie,
If it makes you feel any better about the hairy legs and the Granny Pants I almost wet myself when I read your post! YOU and I are alike in SO many ways!

Any time I go to the doc/nurse/dentist,,,,,,I'm always the "life of the party" because I'm trying to take my mind off of what the situation REALLY is!

When your better, wanna have a "braid off?" We'll braid the hair on our legs and add little beads or sequins!

Everytime I start to think that maybe I'll start dating again I think about my underwear (NOT lingerie) and why would I want to kick two perfectly good dogs and one cat off the bed to make room for a man????

I love you my dear! I'm SO glad to see your post I have been SO worried about you! If you can laugh,,,,or make others laugh, I think you are on the road to recovery!

Ohhhhh BIG BIG hugs! and "Pieces!" Big Time!

Please get plenty of rest and good healthy food in ya- that always helps!
Thank goodness for Christi-- She was so sweet in telling us about the accident in the first place... Glad she is there to take care of you!

Good to know you can keep your humor with all around you is going nuts. OH NO~~ this reminds me when mom said, never go out without clean underwear on as a kid. I will be more aware nowand have clean shaven legs and polished toes after reading what you went through. One never knows what the day will bring! Please stay down, get your feet up and stay there. Let folks cater to you. Praying you get better soon but take some time to heal.

Hang in there, grab some chocolate if you like that sort of thing, it makes healing much more fun.

Prayers!

So glad it was not more serious than that, but it still sounds very bad, especially if you told your age!!! I was cringing and ducking my head as I read your post so I don't get hurt too, all I can say is OUCH!!! Sounds like you really need to take it easy for a while, thank goodness for Christi! You rest, those chores will still be there when you can get to them!

Maggie, your post this evening surely brightened my otherwise 'yeegad' day.
Christi, do not let your mother go back to work too soon. You are a good girl.
I do believe this post will have everyone of us will be shaving our legs regularly, complete our pedicures, go through our undies and sock drawers and chuck those questionable items.

Maggie, I am sending those Positive Thoughts your way.

Love to you both.

Oh friend.....I have been checking your blog every day since your accident. I'm so glad to see you are back in your usual hysterical form.

Only you could do a post that would make us all crack up after such a serious accident. Take care of yourself , you know we don't heal as easily when we reach a certain age (if you know what I mean LOL LOL)

Get that rest, the chores will wait.

Blessings.

Dear Magggie, although I like grandma yellow hair, lol, I wanted to answer your question about my husband passing. It was three weeks ago Saturday, I am not so sure it has hit me yet. I cannot thank you enough for your kind words on my blog, so then I come over to your blog to thank you and read your latest blog. I am so sorry that you are hurt, and will send good positive thoughts to the universe for some fast healing! I did laugh at your hairy situation tho, and half a pedicure. We women are all alike aren't we? That's the great thing about us. I know after reading your blog that you and I would be good friends in "real life", so now we will have to be grateful to be good friends in this virtual life. God bless you.

Was thrilled to see your post this AM and am so glad that your sense of humor was not damaged in the least. I was feeling quite guilty laughing and felt better when I saw I wasn't the only one.
Headaches for 4 months sounds awful but I am just so glad you are on the mend and that it wasn't any worse.
Think Pearl ought to fire warning shots over the heads of your co-workers for asking your age when you were barely conscious. That is dirty pool. The least they can do to make up for that breach of etiquette is to do your mowing for you.

Maggie, it sounds like you had a close call. I am so thankful you didn't break your precious neck! We need you and your neck safe and sound. Now do NOT go getting back in that mower too soon, that is a direct order!

Oh, Maggie ... as I am picking myself up off the floor laughing, I apologize. I am sooo grateful that you only had a concussion, & nothing more serious. You need to rest & take care of yourself so you don't have repercussions from the concussion, sweet friend. Let everyone pamper you!

Now let me tell you, I have been in the same situation as you, & wished I could 'fade away' because of my physical appearance when hauled off by an ambulance. Later I have chuckled at some of the answers I gave them rather than the absolute truth they needed.

Prayers & hugs to you, sweet lady.

What an awful accident. Hope the head and back pain subside before 6 weeks etc. Glad you have such attentive friends and family.

Forget the ranch and get well, plus we all will still be here. As for me I am doing some outdoor decorating at my little hacienda so blogging is slower. Also preparing for a huge yard sale.

Prayers for speedy recovery. Tell the guys you lied about your age HA HA HA. However, advanced age sometimes is beneficial like when I forget peoples names.

Maggie, I love ya girl. My goodness, you and I don't just have the same cousins (Ms. Pearl and the one that is at my place) but we have the same thoughts when were are in a very critical spot. When I was rushed by ambulance a few years back, I remember thinking, 'cripe, my legs are so hairy they could braid them'..'and my hair, lice would fall off it's so greasy'...I actually said to the male nurse when he was going to put those sticky things all over my chest...'don't go from the bottom (of my flannel granny pj's that I had on)just go from the top..there is less rolls.'

Seriously I said that. My husband sat there looking at me like 'what?" I'm sorry but I'm vain and I'm definitely not letting a MALE nurse touch my fat, thank you very much, no matter if I'm dying of a heart attack.

And,,what will they bury me in..my wedding dress or a red dress (you know how much I love red)..These are the thoughts that went through my head during that time..oh ya,,this one too,'I wonder if my hair dresser will wash my hair before they put me in the casket?';

I hope your enjoying your time with your daughter and resting as much as you can because I know your John Deere mower has been missing you greatly! lol

Oh Maggie! OUCH! I'm terribly behind on everyone's blogs, so I've just learned about your concussion. Treat yourself well and feel better soon! XXX
