My Friend M.E.

Today I thought I would share with you the sweet artist that painted my headboard picture. Mary Ellen Shipnes was a dear friend of mine and a gifted artist.
To all her friends and family she insisted in being simply called M.E.
Meeting M.E. changed my life forever.
She opened my eyes to all the beauty surrounding us in everyday life. After knowing her I always looked at everything in color. No more black and white in my life.
Her home here in the country was definitely M.E.  Every room was painted in bright colors and just like most of her paintings.
This painting of hers hung in the dining area notice the bright wall.
The Mermaid above this was a chandelier that hung in a sun room off of the kitchen.

This was the side door leading into her beautiful kitchen.
These flowers were always my favorite. Her gardens were as colorful as her home.

Here is M.E. wearing her favorite colors.

The reason I wanted you to meet M.E. beside the fact that I loved her dearly but she introduced in to the world of Mola's.  My giveaway tomorrow is one of the Mola's that she and I picked out together and I know that M.E. would want one of you to have it.  If she were here with us today she would be thanking all of you herself for the kindness that you have shown her friend Maggie.
Mola's are handmade by the Kuna Indians in Panama.
The fabric panels are most popularly used as wall hangings, eye catching pillows, skirts, men's shorts and hair bands. Like M.E. just use your colorful imagination in using yours.
Be sure and enter to win one of these Mola's the giveaway ends tomorrow.
Just click on the Mola on my sidebar and it will take you to the post to enter the giveaway.
Also while your clicking on giveaways on the side bar be sure and check out all the others I have of my friends that are having their giveaways. I just added Susan's last night from Art of Mine. This is her first giveaway and I can not tell you how excited Susan is about this giveaway. So be sure and go by and pay her a visit.
Before I go I wanted to also show you a few things I have gotten from my lovely friends out here who wanted to send me some get well wishes.
Lisa at The Davis Dialogues made this for me. I carry it everywhere I go in my purse. Isn't it just the cutest little bag you have ever seen. Thank you honey for sending me this I love it.
Marydon the sweetie from Blushing Rose sent me this lovely tea cup and special tea bags with some beautiful sachets. Now who can not get well sippping tea out of this pretty set and thinking of all of you.
Thanks Marydon for thinking of me. I really love my gift.

I have to tell all of you how sorry I am for being so behind in my visit's to your sites. I hope in the near future I can get back to blogging the way I use to. This past week after my two procedures I have been sick not sure if they left one of their camera's in me or what they did but besides the pain in my neck and back I don't feel like Maggie. Strange Ms. Pearl has not come out in a while. Maybe she is to afraid to since Maggie does not feel good. lol
Dan sent me his email for tweaking my kitchen and I will have to share that with soon. He is such a sweetheart.
Also how can I ever thank all of you for your response to my son's letter about our darling Kaci. Your kindness and understanding has truly meant the world to me.
Some of you have left comments about me writing something funny. I promise I will do my best to get over whatever it is I have caught and get back to Ms. Pearl or someone soon.
As always
Love to All,
Maggie

M.E. was beautiful. What a truly gorgeous and talented lady. I love her colorful artwork, particularly the garden flowers. I think that you kind of remind me of M.E. too, Maggie! You probably had a lot in common with her.

I hope that you feel better very soon. I think about you often and how your life abruptly had to change due to your injury. What I find amazing is your delightful attitude and perspectives. Surely, it's not just the drugs!

I pray you feel better very soon, and I also pray that if I am ever in a situation like you have found yourself, that I can cope with the situation as bravely and with as much personality as you have!

Hello Grandma Yellow Hair!
I finally got my computer fixed, I know, it was two whole months. Way too long...

I hope you are all healed from that nasty fall and not suffering from any ill effects anymore. And how is that lovely ranch that you are in charge of?

I will have to catch up sometime, I can seem to get an idea for a post of my own. Nothing exciting happening here, that's good!

G'eve, sweetie ~ So glad to see it all arrived intact. You needed a perk me up ... & deserve all the pretties you receive.

You will never know the joy, laughter & fun you bring to our lives, as does Miss Pearl.

Take good care, think of me ... with each cup of tea.

Love you, my friend. ~ Marydon

I hope you get to feeling better soon. If you cough and out come pictures, well, I think you know your camera is still working fine. However, if you have to potty (#2) and the toilet lights up from the flash continually going off, then you know the camera might be a bit "behind" in its ability to "eliminate" the "crappy" photos still "floating around" inside. :)

Hello Maggie! It's so nice to 'meet' you. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a message..it's always such a pleasure meeting others. Your friend M.E. sounds like she was a wonderful person...and talented to boot! She certainly wasn't afraid of colors and I think that says a lot about a person. I'm sorry to learn that you haven't been feeling well...I hope things are looking up and you're back to your usual self in no time. Have a wonderful Friday...take care. Maura :)

What a lovely and talented person M.E. was. You were lucky to have her in your life and now have her in your memory.
I hate that you have taken a backslide. I'm sure they cranked you around a bit with those proceedures. Do hope you let the docs know how your are feeling get yourself checked out. Be well lady.

Maggie,

What a delight person M E is and I think we can all take a page from her book and look at life through more color.
I have been so out of it and want to send you a huge love and tender hug with wishes for a complete recovery. We want the Miss Pearl back feeling great!

With so much happening in our lives I have been a slacker in keeping up with my dear cyber friends and I was touched and saddened going back and seeing what you have been up to. Oh my word!
Kaci touched my heart deeply! What a wonderful, brave and strong child. This disease has also hit our family and my cute niece who we helped raise. Her own daughter was diagnosed at age 5. She is 7 now and the oldest of 4 little ones. She is the oldest flower girl standing by my sister at her grandma's wedding. The post is on my blog right now. It is incredible what these little ones go through and how BRAVE they become and teach us so much.
BIG KUDOS to Kaci. I hoped raised lots of money for the cure. Parker is now on a pump and is trying to get stablized.
Please continue to get better so you can be back on top again! I laughed out loud when I saw the cartoon.

I admire artists so much and just wish I had the vision to see color in everyday life like they do!Your friend M.E. certainly did.. I often think there's an artist deep inside me and someday it's gonna leap out! Hope you're feeling up to par soon. Don't worry about writing anything funny or witty now..I don't know if it's possible to read a twinkle in one's eye, but I think I can feel the one you must always have in yours...even when you don't feel good. Have a better feeling weekend!

I love that you felt M.E. "opened my eyes to all the beauty surrounding us in everyday life". What a wonderful gift to have given as well as to receive! I think the sign of a true artist is that they can make us see things differently and appreciate the beauty all around us.

Look at all I've missed out on!!! Catching up with my visits, too, and sending you huge heartfelt HOPE that you'll feel the tender love that surrounds you with every particle of your lovely heart. Sad or upbeat, funny or quiet, feeling very un-Maggie or altogether whole....you're still very much loved and cherished and "gotten". Sending prayers for healing and happy surprises your way.
