Summer Is Almost Over!

Not too many more days and summer will be over! I have admit this is one summer I will be glad when it ends. As I mentioned in my earlier post I was lucky enough to travel to Austin to see my grand babies and here they are in their neighborhood pool showing me what they have learned this summer.
Kaci and Bailey started the 3rd and 1st grade today and I can not wait to talk to them and see how their first day went.
When they weren't swimming we all stuffed envelopes for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Does this look like a thousand envelopes? That's right we stuffed a thousand and just the week before they had already stuffed a thousand. I am so proud of them helping such a worthy cause.
Kaci kept having to check her blood sugars while I was there and taking her five shots a day but never once did I hear her complain about it.

After we stuffed envelopes Bailey and his dad went to a big department store and stood out front and raised money for The Boy Scouts. You should of seen how darling Bailey was asking people if they wanted to buy some popcorn for the Boy Scouts. Too cute....who could turn him down. lol
Of course before he left his big sister had to give him something to remember her by.
The look on his face is priceless!

Love to all
Maggie

Can't you see me in the back of them.hahaha
I did not know they were going swimming or I might have surprised them and brought my big ole granny bathing suit to Austin. The water looked like so much fun.
I left them there and went and had lunch with Christi and then came home.
Still in pain from the visit but worth every minute
Love
Maggie

Great grand kids and unbelievable child that is responsible for her own diabetes which was a challenge in life she certainly did not ask for. I am so proud of her and don;t even know her.

That is so wonderful that you got to visit your grandbabies this summer!

P.S. I am a Scout mom and I love that Bailey was doing such a great job earning money for the cub scouts - it is such a good organization and teaches the boys great values.

Way to go Kaci! I'm always inspired by children who have illness and conditions that would challenge any adult and yet they go about doing what they have to with such grace. Boy Scouts are and were big in our home. With 4 boys who were all scouts I know about fundraising...my Hubby still goes to summer scout camp. This is his 21st year of helping out there. He really enjoys the week! Fun way to end the summer with a visit to family and yours is sure beautiful!

Oh such a wonderful contribution they made to the JDF!! Good for them. They look cool at least in that pool. I don't think I can bear anymore of this heat, I mean really!! I'm looking forward to cooler weather this year. I'm sure my menopause will thank me. Hugs. Tammy

Hi Maggie, Grandkids are so special and I wouldn't trade my three grandsons for the world. They help keep us young. I am so glad that you went. I don't know how far you are apart, but I know we are only allowed to drive a couple of hours and then we have to stop and get out of the car and stretch. i know I am so happy that I got heated seats in my car because when my back is bothering me and I am in the car I just turn my seat on. I have an Eagle Scout, who was also in Mico-say. It is something they can take with them for the rest of their life. I am so proud of your grand-daughter for diebetes is not fun. We deal with it every day in our household. You take care and I am keeping my fingers cross that you get to go back to work soon. Your Missouri Friend.

How wonderful that your grands are being taught and are willing to give back and to be of service. Sadly too rare in kids today. You did a great job starting the trend.

Howdy Maggie
Oh how adorable !!!!!!!!!!
I love the priceless look on your grandson's face ,it should be on a poster somewhere reminding us all that boys are boys sometimes.
I am so glad you got the chance to go and be a part of this special moment with your children.
You are so blessed .
I am still praying for you to make a full recovery girfriend .
After all it is no fun when Pearl cannot come out to tell it like it should be :)
Just remember that you are being lifted up in prayer and missed a whole buch !
Until next time

You have a very nice blog. Also, those are great children doing great things. How wonderful it would be if there were more like that. There is nothing precious than a child. I am so happy another Texan dropped by for a visit and became my follower. That pleases me very much. I wish your mother could have been here to celebrate with me. Not knowing how many more years I have, I try to make the most each day.

Oh I would buy some popcorn from him for sure! :) I couldn't resist him at my door!

Love the family pool pic! It is so fun to see your family! They are such a smiley bunch! Love that!

I must admit I am not loving the end of summer & I am pretty sure I will cry the first day of firts grade for Annie...she will be gone all day! I know it will be good but it just seems so long! When I asked her her favorite part of Kindergarten...she said, "Coming home to you." Make a Mama cry!!! :) Of course I loved it & I know she loves school but I will miss her...she is my little BFF & we do love hanging together but this way I will just get to enjoy those little rascals of mine! & I do enjoy them so!

Take Care Maggie!
