MS PEARL IS GETTING ANTSY!

Hello my sweet friends ENJOY the Valentine I got from a fellow Officer the other day. Isn't it cute!

Today I started building a raft out here on the north forty! Why?, you ask…..because it is freaking raining cats, dogs, pigs, horses and cows here in my part of Texas. I know that rain is nothing to complain about we all know that by summer here in Texas we will be begging for it but ladies this cold rainy weather is making Ms Pearl antsy and real hard to contain. So silly of me to gripe about mud holes and mud holes when you sweet things have snow coming out of the kazoos….Right?
This ole grandma is so ready for spring so she can shave her legs, paint her toenails pink and put on her short shorts and sandals…..lol (I wish) Seriously every time I take a darn bath in this ole freezing farm house I think about my all time favorite Laura Ingalls and her family Little House on the Prairie or Kitty on Gunsmoke…..How in world did these people take baths much less go to the pooper in the freezing cold. Lord knows I am sure my sweet Mama had to do it too but how!!!!
I keep a oil heater going in the bathroom next to the ole claw foot tub then 20 minutes before my bath I turn it off and turn on a small looking heater that is suppose to look like a wood burning fireplace. Then I turn up the heat pump to 75 and run the hottest water I can stand before I can even stick my big toe in the tub. Truth be known if I would not blow the breaker I would have all three going at the same time. Weenie, yes I guess I am when it comes to taking my clothes off and getting in water in the winter time. No wonder they only took baths once a week. OMG they probably would have had to chase me down and hog tie me to get me to undress and get in a dang tub that is full of lukewarm water. Oh no…heck no not me!! I would of smelled like some of those inmates over at the county jail if I had been born back then.
Well enough of my complaining about the weather. Spring will be here soon followed by summer where I will be telling you how I wish it would rain so I could take a day off from mowing.
I really sat down here to do a post about something entirely different and yet my mind wondered off to mud holes and freezing cold doopers. Also before I wonder off again I wanted to copy and paste the comment I left all of you who left me such kind comments about sending cards to our troops. Just think at least 50 or more cards were sent out because of you guys taking the time to do so. I hope you all save the address and keep sending them because bless their hearts they are so far away from family and friends and need our support. My silly comment to you guys on the last post
I am sitting here listening to Elvis sing to me Your Always on My Mind from #4 on my music list and with him singing that while I reading all your sweet comments tears started coming out of my big brown eyes dripping on my dirty lap top...then I turn to my left because Tinkerbell is slapping my leg and I look into a huge mirror and I kid you not my hair is standing straight up just like a punk rock star would wear it. Then I die laughing because Crazy starts playing by Patsy Cline so now I am falling out of my chair laughing and the tear drops are still on the key pad. hahahaha OMG am I Crazy or what....

Now Twitty is singing its only Make Believe ...then before I can finish this sentence Twist comes on with Chubby Checkers...never knew one minute on my playlist your crying the next your laughing your dooper off....

Girls what in the heck would I do without all of you in my life...I think I am in love with all of you...

Oh no now Ricky is singing Garden Party...I give up...got to go comb my hair, then clean my laptop and slap Tinkerbell for making me look in that direction...lol

Love and thanks to all of you
and Thank you for sending these cards out to our guys and girls who deserve our Thank You's
feel free to copy and paste to all of your sites

Stay dry and warm and know that I am thinking happy warm thoughts about all of you!

Sweet Dreams
Maggie

Ya'll have the rain but when it gets pushed up to us it smacks into a arctic fount and whammy, we get smacked with more snow. The storms have been coming 2-3 days apart and droppin' a heap of snow upon the Ozarks. Oh baby, I'm soooo tried of winter.

Ya'll have a terrifically blessed day!!!

I thought you guys were suppose to get snow today!!!! It's coming our way, or so they say, for the third time this winter. So far not a flake has fallen from the sky at Blue Creek Home. We will see!!

I'm with you on the cold bath thing!! I think back in the day, they took a lot of "sponge" baths! (that's what my mom called them) I used the term a couple of times when my girls were young and they somehow twisted it into "scrub offs". So, maybe you should do a quick 'scrub off' if you can't get that water heated up to simmering!!!

Happy Valentines Day you crazy girl!!!

From another crazy girl!!

I hope the rain lets up for the weekend! I am SO sick of the snow in Chicago - it's not enough to be snowed in, but just enough to make everything slushy, blergh!

Happy Valentine's Day weekend!

Hey, did you get your headband yet???

Maggie how I missed you!! I was just going to write to you when I saw your post!! Well here in Georgia we are suppose to get some snow tomorrow. It has been cold all day but at least the sun was out for most of it. It seems one day it will rain then one day it will be windy the next day it will rain and be windy, then a flurry or two the next day....Well yes summer will be here and I am hoping we all can forget this past winter and enjoy sitting on our decks or porches in our shorts!!! Love ya and stay warm girlfriend and oh yes don't float away ok??? Ciao Bella

Maggie, I swear to god you had me laughing my fool head off. Glad my better half is out tonight, or he'd have me committed for sure!

I always said that snow and an outhouse gave the words "Dashing Through The Snow" a whole new meaning! I know you're with me on this one, girlfriend! I remember the dang things, but thankfully, the only place where I had to use one was at my aunt's summer cottage. Praise the Lord! Otherwise, I might have been stopped up til spring!

Thanks for the belly laughs tonight. Just the ticket!

Oh Maggie, we have a claw foot too, no shower, and i am the BIGGEST weenie when it comes to taking a bath. I make the Commander go in and turn on the wee oil heater in there an HOUR before my bath! Our old 114 year old Victorian house is HUGE and it just amazes me that they built these homes this big over 100 years ago and then put in one dinky bathroon. Also, we don't have heat on our second floor (where we sleep) nor the third floor either. Isn't that wild that they didn't heat those floors either back during that time? We have a ceramic heater in our bedroom and it keeps us nice and toasty at night.

I am about to go Ms. Pearl on the Commander because he's sick with a fever and he's been out shoveling snow for the neighbor today...pfffffft!

Love you Mags!

Will everyone hate me if I said that our 'blizzard' just dissappated and we only got about 5-7 inches?? ;) I thought so....

I just 'sent' a postcard! There are some talented little artists out there supporting our brave troops! It was so hard to pick just one, I think I will have to do it again and again! Thanks so much for the link!

In the Winter in an old drafty house..., TAKE A SHOWER. It will keep you warmer and you can shave your legs while you have hot water pouring all around you.
Hope it stops raining and warms up for you.

Short shorts...LOL...I want pics. Us weenies who live in California freak out when the temperature drops to 50 degrees...but it's all relative right? Keep some chocolate near the bathtub...eating warms you up...at least that's what I tell people. Your lucky you don't have an outhouse...or do you?

smooches,

We are in a rainy season too and it's getting on my nerves...I need spring. BUT it's not cold or snowing so i'll be quiet and count my blessings. Take care sweetpea...love ya.

LOL! Maggie, you make me laugh, but I'm right there with you and I think my mom didn't have inside plumbing until she was 14 yrs old or something like that, I remember visiting my grandparents and just couldn't wrap my arms around the thought of it. What's worse is the location of there out house still standing all those years later, it was at least a five minute run, I say run because whoes going to walk in the freezing rain and snow in MI while going out in the middle of the night to the outhouse? Talk about harsh! Here in northern OZ we have gotten nothing but rain and I too long for spring and summer. I so love that vintage valentine too! Thanks for sharing!

Good Morning Maggie!!

I am right there with ya on the bathroom problem. This old farmhouse bathroom is one step from falling off the end of the house. I swear it sits over a hole in the ground that leads right smack dab somewhere near the North Pole. Speaking of "Crazy" by Pasty Cline, I actualy wrote about her last week--MY kind of gal!

I love that Valentine. I hope you have a great weekend. Stay dry so Ms Pearl don't have to take another bath!!

Hi Maggie. I'm with you on the warm bathroom - I hate being cold!!! I like the water bum scaldingly hot too!!! You can understand why Laura Ingalls and Miss Kitty only bathed once a week whether they needed it or not!!! I love that Valentines card by the way!!! Hope your rain goes away and spring comes to you soon!!

Hey Maggie...I grew up in a big old cold in winter, hot in summer house. I swear the toilet in the upstairs bathroom would have a skim of ice on it on frigid mornings.
Enjoyed the Little House references...been thinking about that myself...told Hubbie that we should tie a rope between the house and the workshop during the blizzard like in LH so we wouldn't get lost in the storm.

Arkansas Patti said...

Pretty sure Miss Kitty enjoyed Matt's "man smell" and he enjoyed her "glow". Old time speak for Stink and Sweat. They weren't as fussy as we are today.
Loved your music choices.

Look at the happy side...at least it isn't snow.
There is nothing better than a warm bathroom on a cold morning. But the floor is always cold?
A good friend of mine had heated floors put in her bathroom. How neat.

Oh, I miss my old clawfoot iron tub; it takes forever to fill them, but then they stay warm forever! Yep, I'm thinking the "good old days" may not have been all that good! I love water heaters, central heat and microwaves!

Thanks for putting the card link up. I remember doing that on some other holiday too.
Love your humor....it has been a strange season. Big time cabin fever this Spring for sure.

I remember my mom talking about having to take a bath in an old wash tub that was set in front of the fireplace...with 16 siblings and only one tub, you can imagine how cold and dirty the water was by the time the last one went in! lol I often wish I lived in the old days but then I hear something like that and am happy with my modern conveniences!!!

We've had nothing but sunshine the last few weeks but it's been frigid. Oh well, I'd rather have the cold if it comes with sunshine and not the clouds that bring snow! lol

Sounds like you listen to the same type of music I do:-) I'm a huge Elvis fan, always have been since I was a little girl. I always say I should have been a teenager in 1957 and not born that year!! I so love the music from that era, as well as country music.

You are such a dear heart, I just love you to bits:-) xoxo
