Happy 4th of July!

This is a Pic of my landlady Barbara in her Red/White and Blue!

A Big Happy Fourth of July to all my sweeties out here in this delightful world of blogging.
Today my  landlady/friend Barbara came to Texas for the annual Round Top 4th of July Parade. I believe this was the 162th year for this parade to be held. Could that be right? I have to look that up again. lol

Barbara had intended for us to ride in the parade in her 1959 Red and White Cadillac Convertible but when she was getting ready for the trip to my house it was discovered the tags had expired. Oh how disappointed she was because of wanting to participate in the parade.

Even though we were bystanders along with her great grandson there in the red shirt beside her in the picture above we still had a lot of fun watching all of the hundred and something entries to this parade. Considering population for Round Top is now listed as 91 residents this was a huge parade.

I took a lot of pic's which I have attached but most of them are not really that good. I was standing under a shade tree and was to comfortable to move and get some really good photo's. Plus the crowd kept me back too. haha

Just in case you don't care to read about this parade let me fill you in really quick about the kitty that was abandoned by the renters out here on the North Forty. I called them and let Ms Pearl give them a piece of her mind and then I finally managed to get the cat to go back inside the house where she would be safe for the night. She was too terrified to ever come to me since she had to have been traumatized being left by her owners.

The next morning I walked over to the pink house to check on her and she was on the very top of the kitchen cabinets that almost reach the ceilings. How she managed to get that high is beyond me.  I called and called for her but she never came down.

Ended up having to call the Sheriff's Department and they came out and then they called animal control. I filled out the paper work to file charges for animal abuse against these people. I had a girlfriend tell me how mean I was to do this but I tell you it did not bother me one bit. In fact if I still worked at the Sheriff's Department I would of served the papers myself.

The poor cat was declawed left out here to fend for herself. See my post before this one to read more.

I put in the paperwork if she was adopted to call me and I would see if I could somehow take her.

Ms Pearl did have a few words with the owner and it turns out she had a lot to say to these idiot's. Also leaving the house filthy did not set to well either so besides chose words about the cat a few were thrown in about them living like pigs. I have to say Ms Pearl has been in hiding of late but boy when she decides to come out then be glad your not on the receiving end of her wrath. lol

Look at the horns on this steer! There were about five of these ridden by some brave fools.

These horses here were dancers. I could not capture the way they were dancing. I have never seen horses dance like these especially on hot concrete. Maybe that's what got them to dancing.

This hot rod was driven by Babe Wasserman the best man in my wedding. (Really truly the best man) Wish I could of captured a pic of him because he is still a very nice looking man.
I had already sat down and was through taking pictures for the day when I heard his name announced. By the time I jumped up to get this picture it was too late. As you can see I mostly got a butt shot of some guy bending over. haha.....Only Babe would be driving a antique hot rod. It was a really  beauty and I missed the shot and hearing what year it was made.  If that guy had not been there I might have gotten a good picture.
It was mostly just antique cars, wagons, tractors and floats but there was one group that were walking dressed in some ridiculous looking scary outfits. I ask Barbara what the heck were they suppose to be but she was too busy staring at them to answer me. haha

Ok enough parade pictures. I can't find the ones I want to share with you anyway. lol

I hope you are safe and enjoying the 4th.

Love to all
Maggie

I so enjoying reading about and looking at all the parades people attended today. We have a pretty big parade in my town that I missed this year because I went to a cook out out of town. Glad your 4th was a pleasant one.

Thanks for sharing your 4th with us Maggie....Our town doesn't do a big parade for the 4th. Balloon fest last weekend was the towns big event to lead up to the 4th. The weather has been weird and it reared it's ugly head tonight with storms that cancelled the fireworks. We really needed the rain though. Glad kitty will get a home and the renters got Ms. Pearl!!

Happy 4th, Maggie! Good for Miss Pearl! Keep us posted on the fate of that poor cat. And thanks for letting us see the hometown parade. Somehow, peeking through the crowd made me feel I was actually there!

Hi Maggie, Happy 4th of July. It looks as those you had a fun day. I enjoy a parade. I enjoyed my 4th with you at your parade. We were basically at home in ac not good to be in triple digits. So hot. My celebration was watching the 4th of Celebration in DC and the Hudson River. The fireworks were awesome. Have a great day. We are headed to the city to schedule appointments and see the doctors. Have a great day. Hugs Your Missouri Friend.

WHAT a parade!!! And a cool land lady. :-)

So glad you were able to bring the abandoned kittee story to a happier ending. Stupid, stupid, stupid people! Leaving her out like that!

Now----Your land lady will hire someone to clean out that pig-stye of a house, left by the Stupid, stupid, stupid people... YES? Please tell us that YOU will not be expected to clean it up???? Especially in the heat of summer.

Gentle hugs,
"Auntie"

I am so glad you filed charges and I hope your laws have some teeth in them.
Thank goodness the kitty is now being taken care of with you as a safety net. Win/win.
I'm impressed you braved the heat for the parade. That was the only parade I got to see so thanks for the pics.

So glad that you got the kitty some help. I hope she gets adopted. I am so glad that you filed charges. Why did your friend think that was not a good idea. They should have something in the rules about leaving places like that. They should have been charged for that.
What a great parade. Wow your land lady looks overheated. That's how our parade was....too hot for me.
Take care and don't you be cleaning that pink cottage.

It looks like you had a great 4th of July despite being hot under the collar, I mean Miss Pearl's collar, of course.

It's nice to know that Miss Pearl is still healthy and feisty just so she can snap that whip from time to time.

I'm so glad that the kitty is being cared for and is no longer in danger of predators. You are a good woman. I think that you can thank Miss Pearl for showing up when she did.

Have a great weekend.

Hugs. JB

Love you parade! Hugs to you and Miss Pearl. She is one awesome chick! Hope kitty finds a new home. Sad thing is, they do not forget when they are mistreated. The poor thing will have a hard time learing to trust again ~

That looks like a fun parade!

And I can't feel too sorry for the kitty owners. After all, you did give them a chance to come and get their cat, and they refused.

Nuff said.

=)

That was a pretty darned good parade for a small town. I haven't been to a parade for so many years, I can't even remember the last one. It is so hard to navigate me when I am in my wheel chair and I know I could't walk to one, or stand while it goes by, so we don't even try. I guess it isn't fair to call watching the Pasadena Rose Parade which we watch on T.V. They are so gorgeous with all the floats made of flowers.

The story about the kitten makes me sick. How some people can be so abusive. It's hard to believe they would leave him, when they bothered to take him in the first place. Can't figure that one out.

We had a nice 4th of July. We stayed home and invited a couple over for dinner. I did it all the day before. It was a cold dinner with ham, potato salad, corn ont the cob and key lime pie. It was all very good, especially with the cantaloupe and watermelon balls and cherries in a beautiful bowl that our friends brought. We watched the fireworks from our driveway.

Take care Maggie, and don't do anything I wouldn't do.

I'm SO glad you filed charges
and that animal control came
to the rescue
(bless them)
and that the frightened kitty
is free of those blackhearted humans!
you're a treasure,

Taking a wee break! Have missed you terribly, also. So glad the kitty is now safe. What jerks those people are.

It was too durn hot here to venture out & get the parade on the canal ... that is such a fun event to see. People get crazy.

Think I told you Tanza was coming to visit ... wild wonderful week ... you were talked about, did you hear us? The 4 of us would be trouble & laughter together ... I can hear us all now. Go visit her, you'll love her ... http://teagirltanza.blogspot.com/

Harold then went to CA for 10 days ... running myself ragged trying to keep up with everyone & all these feedsacks. I got in a mother lode & more coming this week later. YAY!!!

Well, back to the grindstone. I'll call you later this week, I PROMISE!!!
Miss you terribly.
TTFN ~
Love & hugs,
Marydon

Yikes ! ! ! !
Of all times for me to be late reading your posts. Please, Ms Pearl, I won't let it happen again. I'll stay current with reading Maggie's posts.
Maggie, put in a good word iwth Ms Pearl for me.

You were more adventurous then Hubby and I on the 4th. We went out for our usual lunch time meal and stayed in the rest of the day.

At nine o'clock we opened the deck door to hear our town's fireworks but couldn't hear a thing. Don't know why we always can at least hear 'em. Oh, well, maybe next time.
