I know most of you started the day off like myself thanking God for giving me three amazing children. Not a day goes by that I don't give thanks for you my friends and my family.
Yes it has been a long dry spell between post again. I keep thinking and hoping that these droughts of my not writing are over but a promise I can not seem to keep.
Don't think for a minute though that you not in my thoughts and prayers. Not a day goes by that I wonder how you are and what your doing. Being on a tractor from morning til night gives this ole grandma plenty of time for thinking.
I over did it with the mowing about two weeks ago and ended up in the emergency room for the day. I promised myself that since our temps are already in the high 80's on most days that I would stop around 2pm and not go out again until 5 pm and mow until dark. Not being in the heat during 2 and 5 should help keep from any more emergency room visits.
Many of you over the years have expressed your wishes for me to hook up with the cowboy that once lived here or just get out and meet someone. Years ago I decided dating at my age was too stressful and not for me. WELL you will be happy to know I gave it one more chance.
Yes I had a date! My long time friend Sharon husband found out that I was not seeing anyone and he asked me to meet a good friend of his who had lost his wife several years ago. I only agreed because Lew mentioned that his friend was becoming a hermit and since I totally get the hermit lifestyle I said Okay.
The four of us went out to dinner last Saturday night. Lew was right he was a very nice man. Well known and respected in our small town. I had heard of him but never met him.
I have to tell you that your crazy friend totally drove herself and others crazy days before the date. Nervous was not the word for it. It felt like I was sixteen again and scared out of my mind. Even had a breakout on my face just like a teenager.
You ask why would a ole woman let herself get this way. Good question? All I know is never again. ha ha
When I met him I realized that the near nervous breakdown was totally for no reason. It helped that Lew and him were such good friends because they kept the conversations going. Sharon and myself were just there.
Probably should not say this because I could be really wrong but at times I felt he was only concerned of Lew having a good time. ha ha
He called me a few days later and told me that he had a wonderful time and that if the three of us ever wanted to do that again to be sure and give him a call. Even Lew looked at me funny when I passed this on to him. In the old days I never called a guy for a date can not see that happening now.
Honestly I have let to many years pass since dating anyone. I am too set in my ways and expect maybe a little too much from a man. How could I be so picky you might ask when I am no young chick? In fact another year has passed because Tuesday is my Birthday!
Christi has made plans for us to have massages and lunch that day. Really sweet of her. I could use a good massage and will let you know how that turns out. We both have Fibromyalgia so that has kept me from getting massages in the past. I think explaining to them not to be to rough on me will be the best bet for not paying for it days later.
It seems I have gone on and on about myself so let me say good night before you fall a sleep on me.
Know I think of you often and pray that you are well. Sending you much love and I hope this week brings you nothing but joy. Hopefully most of you are enjoying warmer temps and beautiful flowers by now.
Sweet Dreams and Love to All,
Maggie

happy Birthday enjoy your time with your daughter.
Cathy
It doesn't sound like anything clicked but, hey, any time spent with friends is a good thing.
So good to hear from you.
Good for you going out of your comfort one. Sounds like this guy is out of practice, hah. You never know what will happen down the road.
I hope your family is well. And you girlie be careful out there.
I have missed you.
xo
Hi Maggie, it's good hearing from you. Wow, a chaperoned date... well it's better than no date at all.
I don't think I would be looking to get hitch with a man at my age. Only a need for security would make me go on a date. I think that I would become a hermit too. lol...
But after saying that , I believe that there a cover that fits every pot out there. It's just a matter of finding the right cover. lol.
Good luck with this new venture and I hope that you had a wonderful Mother's day.
Hugs,
JB
Good for you for daring to go on a date, nicely chaperoned. Perhaps you will meet him again, it could happen.
Nice to see you posting again, and have a lovely week.
Maggie, I think it was wonderful that you got out of the house. You need to adventure out once and a while. Just remember the sun can cause us head aches if we stay out to long and we don't realize it until it is to late. Happy birthday in advance and it is so good to see you here. I think of you often, but like me I don't have the time to do everything. I am so happy for your daughter and there is a lot more to do with girls then boys in planning a wedding. Have a wonderful week and you aren't to old to go out for dinner. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
It's lovely to hear from you again I, too became a bit of an hermit over the winter. I didn't seem to have the energy to even have an interest in doing anything, let alone get around to actually getting something done! I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Do something totally outrageous lol.
Blessings
Here's an early Happy Birthday...as life often gets in the way of my fun, and I might forget! Glad you had a kinda good time...but, nothing wrong with being a hermit if that's what makes you happy...so don't feel guilty about being YOU. Stay out of that sun...hugs!
Kathy
That was very gentlemanly for him to call and thank you for your company. I am sure he was just as nervous about the date as you were. Having your mutual friend along probably gave him comfort. You might want to give him another chance. Nothing ventured, nothing gained
Busy, busy, busy already. Take care of yourself my friend!
Our grass is in need of cutting. I am glad my son is still here. He does a good job on the lawn.
Well, good for you, Maggie! I wonder if that guy even knew he was on a "date". Sorry to hear you wound up in the ER ~ please take it easy with the mowing in the heat. I don't know how it is there, but in Ohio it seems to be at its warmest point at the end of the day rather than cooling down. I try to do anything outside once Summer comes in the morning hours.
The 13th - right! Same as Mom's birth date - many happy returns to you, Maggie.
A date - great; bet it wasn't nearly as traumatic as your preparations for it, eh?
Calling you afterward sounds he is a kind person; don't forget he carries a big loss in life - death knocks the pins from under a person forever and I'm sure this date took a lot of courage on his part also.
Say, Do you get PAID for all this unceasing mowing? Not knowing answers renders questions -sorry for my nosy nose. So many of the seasonal temps out here charge as much per hour as doctors and lawyers- it seems so anyway - bleeding old folks dry.
Your time is very valuable also. Tell us the facts.
Also I hope Mother's Day gave you some special entitlements. Chinese buffet was my delight for the day. Good eating but bad service - I gave $.10 and helpful suggestions to the HOSTILE waitress when finished. Surely this will have her seeking a job not dealing with sensitive humans in her future. Most upsetting experience for our group of diners AND my digestive system.
A Mother's Day I will never forget if I live to be a thousand years!
Hi Maggie:
Stopping by to say "hello" when your new post appeared in my blog roll. Wonderful to hear how you're doing, my friend.
I'm so glad to read that you opened up yourself to the possibility of a little male companionship. You don't have to marry anyone, but having a male friend can certainly provide welcome entertainment from time to time.
Happy Birthday tomorrow, Mags. Have a great celebration with Christy and remember, "You're only as old as you think!"
xo

Maybe he isn't ready to date and he was coaxed into it.
Ed was ready to date after being widowed 3+ years and put himself out there.
Maggie my friend, I took the attitude that I had a lot to offer a man and 100 years from now who would know and plunged into it.
Yeah, I did feel giddy like yourself and IT FELT GREAT! :0)
There are lots of "good men" looking for a "good woman" out there.
Being happy in my relationship,
I want that "Prince Charming" for everyone. ISYN!
Hey! If you "can't take the heat, Stay out of the heat!" ;0)
Take a water bottle with you.
Glad it all turned out okay and you know what you did wrong now.
Do you do FB ?
I'm on it.
(((hugs)))
I give you a ton of credit for even going. Pretty sure I am in the dating "hermit" stage myself. I do agree with Julia that there is a lid for every pot also.
So sorry to hear you made an ER trip and have adjusted you schedule. Be careful gal.
Take care Maggie and write more often. You have been missed.
From one hermit to another - it never hurts to try and being open to new possibilities is a good thing at any age.
xxoo,
RMW
Talk on I love to hear about you and what you are doing. I say my weekly 30 min. massage is my vice, because I don't drink, smoke, or play bingo. lol
So happy to hear from you again! You are so like me that way, I keep saying I'm going to blog regularly and then I don't for weeks! Oh well we keep trying though don't we!! Wonderful to hear from you,and take care on that mower! Happy Week!
Maggie - happy birthday! Glad you've had some time to have fun lately - thought we were going to have to start calling you the Mower Lady LOLOLOL Hugs to you my friend.
Whhhaaatttt! & I didn't even get to interview him first & give him a hard time! Now that would have been fun! :) He shoulda been nervous instead of you for sure! I am proud of you for going! Dating can be nerveracking! Too bad it didn't turn out a little better...I bet he was just nervous...don't be too sure he won't be knocking on your door asking you out properly soon ;) I bet you looked hot!
Love your post. I haven't been on here since earlier this year. I posted about my Dad today since it's his b-day and I miss him. Isn't today your birthday too? I was thinking it was the same as my Dad's. If it is Happy Birthday!
Hi, Maggie:
It's so great to have an update: I've been wondering how you're doing and am SO happy to hear you had a pleasant night out -- an actual date! Though I do understand your feelings about dating at this stage of life. And happy birthday a little early! I'm so glad you and Christi will be celebrating together! Love, Kathy
Hi, sweet Maggie! Glad to hear you recovered from the over-do of mowing. Hope you remember to not do that again. I would not want to call a guy either. I guess he considered that a group get-together and nothing more.
Sorry I missed your birthday and I hope you had a good one. Happy Belated Birthday sweet Maggie. Love and hugs!
Oh Maggie, Every tiem I read your updates I just know I am in for a laugh...yu never let me down !! I can just imagine you and your date ! what a giggle...but you know I am sure when we get to our age we are really best on our own. I would hate to have to always be thinking of someone else and asking him if we should do this or that...I think we get kind of selfish...and if that's the case, thats me and I like it LOL. Yes we are at long last having some better weather indeed today the temps got up to around 17c. think that's around 60f which for us is quite warm...long may it continue. I even manage dto sit out a while this morning. This afternoon Mary and I went into Bath to the Theatre, we saw a great play a farce so good laugh, just what was needed...Looking forward to your next episode..whenever that may be..we always love you and I keep you and the family in my prayers xxxx
I'm so proud of you for going on a date! I get the hermit thing. It's easy to fall into that trap. I'm glad you went out
Happy birthday Maggie! I'm sorry I'm so late on commenting..I can't believe I let this go by! A date!! Wow! I'm glad you went. Men seem to have a harder time being alone than us women. They really want to be married. So watch out! (you little hottie!) Take care and stay out of the heat. Come up here...it's been chilly and rainy! Send a few rays of sun and a tiny bit of warmth our way!
Sorry to hear you went to Hosp., be carefull this heat is not good when working. Drink lots of water.
I am so old and just can't imagine
getting another man to take care of.
I need to focus on myself at 78.
Big hug to you Maggie Dear.
