Life Without God Is Like A Unsharpened Pencil!

Good morning! I am without a tractor to mow with again so I thought I would share with you a beautiful email that I received from Sybil. I enjoyed it so much I just thought you would too.

I also mentioned on the post before this at Billy's Birthday party I did not get a good picture of my son Clint. Well his brother Chad put this on my facebook page and now I not only have a picture of Clint but one of us together. How neat is that! Thank you Chad for sending this to me.  If you missed the post before this about Billy's Birthday Party out here on the North Forty be sure and scroll on down and see what a day we all had together. You won't believe what his wife bought him for his big day.

Yesterday morning I knew I had to catch up with some mowing out here on the North Forty so I climbed up on ole John and started mowing the pasture near the house. Well ole John worked great until I made him cut into the higher grass and weeds. Then the cutting thing quit on me and I of course had to quit too. It was the only tractor that was working so once again I am down to zero mowers. Ms Pearl is doing her darndest to stay cool and not start kicking things out here but it is not easy on her.

Right now though I wanted you to read this and I should go because I signed up for a darn computer class this afternoon and I hope it helps me. His last one did not so we shall see.

Now here is the email Sybil sent me:

When I was a kid, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every
 now and then

And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast
after a long, hard day at work.

On that evening so long ago, my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage
and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad.

I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed!

Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my Mom and ask
me how my day was at school.

I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember
watching him smear butter and jelly on that ugly burned biscuit
 .
He ate every bite of that thing... Never made a face nor uttered a
 word about it!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my Mom
apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits.

And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits
 every now and then."
Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if
he really liked his biscuits burned.

He wrapped me in his arms and said. "Mom put in a hard day at work
 today and she's real tired".
And besides - a little burned biscuit never hurt anyone!"

As I've grown older, I've thought about that many times.
Life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people.

I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and
 anniversaries just like everyone else.
But what I've learned over the
years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to
celebrate each other's differences - is one of the most important keys
to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

And that's my prayer for you today...
That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of
your life and lay them at the feet of God.

Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a
 relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker!

We could extend this to any relationship

In fact, understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a
 husband-wife or parent-child or friendship!

"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket - keep it in your own.”
So, please pass me a biscuit, and yes, the burned one will do just fine.

And PLEASE pass this along to someone who has enriched your life.
Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some
 kind of battle
"Life without God is like a unsharpened pencil - it has no point!"

So grateful for all of you. Enjoy your day I hope it is a Georgeous like the one I have here today!

Love to all
Maggie

Every time this goes around on the internet, I re-read it & cry. I think of my precious FIL Harve, who was this kind of man. I look at my hubby who followed in his Dad's footsteps.

Thank you God for all the beautiful love you bring to our hearts & lives thru the beautiful, kind, gentle hearts.

I sooooo love the pics of you & Clint. A beautiful mother with her handsome loving son.

When I get over the 'events' of this weekend (may be never), I'll call, I need to calm down & get ahold of myself.
TTFN ~
Love you sweet Maggie.
Hugs,
Marydon

As one who has burned plenty of biscuits in my life, literally and figuratively, I really appreciated this story. Thanks, Maggie!

And I love the pic of you and your son. What a great looking pair you two are.

Oh Maggie that is a beautiful story. It reminds me of the buscuits that were gluten free that I made. My poor husband has to eat what I have to even though he doesn't have Celiac.......he misses good ole pizza.
Any how these buscuits were just awful. They looked like concrete and tasted like them too. I asked if he liked them. He said they were okay and kept eating his. I said, "Well, I think they are terrible and threw mine away."
And my dear friend.....if I ever go to Spain I will take you with me. He He.

I remember something I heard once.."The best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother." That man knew what was important in life! Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful picture.
The tractor--we are on year 20 with ours. I mow the lawn, but dealing with the machinery maintenance would do me in.
The biscuits story was very touching and wise.

My dad was exactly like that. He was my hero. You do't know this about me, but my dad lost his legs in the war. He was only 21. I never knew him with legs. His letters to his mom and brothers and sisters were always positive, never bitter or angry.
Lovely letter and post.
BTW I see your RSS feed. Not sure what happened, but it's there now. Yeah.
I won't be visiting for awhile. I have so many things to do before leaving for N.C.
Lovely to see you and your son.
Thank you for the invite to write on your blog. I'm honoured, but will stick to my little wee spot for now.
Have a great weekend Maggie

Loved the picture of you and Clint. You are both pretty darned good looking!

I can remember burning buscuits but I never even served them. Maybe I should have, just to see if my husband would have eaten them anyway. What a great story that was.

I hope that soon you get all of your mowing machines working at the same time. Has that ever happened? Just take care though and don't work too hard.

Beautiful share...brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me of one time when Bud remarked about burned toast [I actually burn MINE on purpose - so I'd love burned biscuits too I imagine] - and I started nagging him but good...anyway....I too was tired that day from the two kids bickering, coming home from work...cooking and cleaning. He was startled at my response. But my remark was to Bud ---"if you'd treat me like a racehorse, I wouldn't be a nag". I still to this day regret saying what I said...he too had a rough day at work.

Now, on to reading about the birthday. You have piqued my interest to see what he got.

And, Maggie, LOVE the photo of you and Clint [my grandson's name is Clint]

Hi Maggie,
So very true:
I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and
anniversaries just like everyone else.
But what I've learned over the
years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to
celebrate each other's differences - is one of the most important keys
to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

And that's my prayer for you today...
That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of
your life and lay them at the feet of God.
You know, I've written today on Testimony or Testimonies we leave behind us today and after our death, and it really boils down to LOVE LOVE LOVE. Did we love those around us? Did we love our LORD God? Did we show the Fruits of LOVE, being patient, kind, longsuffering, ect.

I've always heard that for ever angry or mean act or word, it takes 7 gentle or kind acts or words before we even begin to undo the damage caused by that one angry or mean act or word~ So we need to take this serious, and LOVE LOVE LOVE! :)
