Three Generations of Brothers and Sisters!

Today I am joining our sweet friend Donna at Brynwood Needleworks  for Memory Lane Mondays. On my way home last night from visiting with my three children, daughter-in-law and grandbabies I thought of how much I love my family.

Since it is almost a two hour drive to my home from theirs it gave me plenty of time for reflections of memories. I thought of how lucky I was to have grown up with four brothers. Yet I promise you it took me a very very long time to be grateful for having four brothers. I mean lets face it being the only girl in the family was not easy. I washed so many dishes and ironed so many blue jeans I still have night mares. lol
Oh and the trips to see my grandparents in the back seat with these four trying to plant a knuckle sandwich in each other over me was quite the experience.

Even though we fought and squabbled over silly unimportant things growing up I have good memories like the time they posed with me in a stage coach while visiting New Mexico. Or the picture above where I am with two of my brothers Doy and Billy!

Or being there for me when my son Clint was married.

Or the birthdays we celebrate with our friends the Olivers!
Here you find me and my four brothers on the left and the Oliver girls with their brother Oscar on the right.  Our beautiful moms front and center and their dad Harvey!

Thinking of my brothers of course made me think of how close my children are to each other.
Here Chad,my mom, Christi, Clint, me and the idiot are all together for Clints graduation from college.
No my hair did not stick out like that the whole time the wind was blowing. lol

A couple of years later Clint married and his big brother Chad and sister Christi along with their mom showed up for the happy occasions.

They even go to other weddings with each other!

They show up to help their mom when she is suffering a loss and needs their presence!

Last but not least I thought of the two brothers and sisters who bring new joy to all of us!
Kaci and Bailey in a pumpkin patch!

They even hunt strawberries with their grandmayellowhair!

I hope my post today brings back happy family memories to you my friend!

Love to all

Maggie

It does, indeed! What a lovely post, Maggie, and thanks for sharing your experience of growing up with four brothers who remain close, with children who love and support each other and you, and with grandchildren who are a joy! You're truly blessed -- and inspiring!

Maggie, you have a lovely family. Thanks for sharing those gorgeous pictures with us and for a glimpse of your childhood memories growing up with four brothers. Being grateful for having your brothers makes up for all the little scuffles that is since all gone and just dusty memories. Great photos.

I like the pumpkin patch and strawberry picking with the grandkids. You're a great grama, meaning wonderful... JB

What a sweet post. Families are so important. So many don't even speak to each other. How fun having four brothers.
Now more than when you were younger. So glad your kids are close as well.

Brothers will drive you crazy but they always have your back and will protect their sis. I had 2, one passed, but I loved them so much.

Families are just the greatest, aren't they? I always feel so sorry for "older people" like me who have no real family. If you don't have siblings OR children of your own, you can be pretty lonely when you get to be my age. I always wanted to have six children and I feel fortunate indeed to have five as it wasn't easy for me to conceive. We adopted our first child, which was a true blessing after being "married without children" for six years. You can imagine how blessed I feel to have had four the hard way after that....

The pictures were all so great! Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures and memories. It did bring back some good memories with my brother and sister.
Isn't it wonderful when you see your own children being such good friends?

You are so dang cute!!!

I loved the family stories. I am 1 of 5 children. Only 1boy. He always hated having 4 sisters...LOL.. One of my sisters is gone now, and it makes you realize how fast time goes, and to enjoy each moment you have with them. She was 50.

Thanks for the stories.

God Bless~

You sure were lucky to have such a happy childhood. Although I had two older sisters they were much older than I was and so I was mostly an "only" but had loads of "pals" so didn;t really miss having any brothers...indeed I can remember telling Mum she was not to have any more babies !!! not that she would have after me LOL
Now my tow sisters were lucky in that as they were growing up during the war yeras our house was shared with my Aunt (whose husband was away in the war) and the two boys so especially Sarah was a bit of a tomboy...
Oh Happy Families....
keep smiling, God Bless,
Love Sybil xxx

I have six brothers and three sisters. We still have a get together the first Sunday of August every year with our extended families. It is always makes you feel good knowing that you have family who will help you if needed. I have been reading just not having very good luck at leaving you comments. Have a great day. What a beautiful thing you have shared in this post. Yes, family is everything. I have been blessed with having the most wonderful family. Seeing all your family photos reminds me I need to start scanning the "vintage" family photographs again. Boxes and boxes of them.
