My High School Reunion!

Hello and how are you this beautiful September day. The first thing I have to mention is have you read my previous Blogazine post. If not scroll down and meet Cathy. Thanks Cathy for doing your story for me. Who is next? Don't be shy send your story to grandmayellowhair@yahoo.com

As most of you know I attended my class reunion over the weekend. For some crazy reason they greeted us at the door of the ball room with name tags that showed us at 17 years old. Here is my Senior picture they had me wear around my neck Saturday night so everyone would know who I was. hahaha.... Silly that they would think I had change so much that no one would recognize me.

Ten minutes into the party I realized these organizers knew what they were doing because I kept thinking who are all of these old people. Am I at the wrong reunion?

Thank goodness I went to this with the Oliver sisters that I grew up with because other wise it would have been a long night.

About three times a year I have a girly weekend with three sisters I grew up with in La Porte so I suggested to them we rent a room and attend our High School Reunion.

In the hotel room I made them pose for a picture! I have to tell you the best part of my weekend was spent in this room laughing with these three. We laughed ourselves silly until way into the night.
.

Ok girls I have to take a picture of you before the big party!
Left to right my life long friends and sisters Ruby, Bonnie and Linda.

Well maybe two pictures!

After the meal my class of 1966 had to pose for a picture together.
Not very many attended from our class. That's me on the right with a black top and long skirt.

Remember last week Gretchen came over and I was trying on outfits to wear to this thing and she loved this black and white skirt that Christi and I had bought a few weeks ago at Stein Mart.

You all know how crazy Gretchen is and when I tried this on she kept saying Oh Yeah Maggie this is so sexy on you. This is what you have to wear. Being the crazy young girl she is she said, "OMG your going to get laid wearing that outfit!" Can you imagine being told that especially from a  young 30 year old woman. hahaha....Anyway about twenty minutes ago she texted me the question...."Well did you...Well did you?" Of course I knew what she was asking so I wrote her back the truth.

"Honey the only thing that got laid was the cards we played when we got back to our hotel room!"

Gretchen of course Texted back "LOL"

It was a strange night seeing kids I had went to school with now in their early 60's. Most of these I had not seen since graduation night.

Here is a picture of me and Mike Edgmond. Mike and I attended the same college after high school so we were happy to see each other. In college I introduced him to a girlfriend of mine and they were pretty crazy about each other.  Guess you know WHO we chatted about the short time we visited!  Our mutual friend of course. Can't wait to call her today and tell her about Mike.

Great picture of the sisters and another friend of ours Bonnie who grew up next door to us. She had not changed a bit. Friendly and lovely as ever.
This is a few of my class mates that gathered later in the evening at our table.

I know some of you wanted me to meet a Handsome prince there and bring him back to the north forty with me but not to be.

One female classmate came and sat down beside me and said she was hiding from her hubby because he loved to dance and she did not want to. I wanted to shake that woman and tell her to get back to her husband and enjoy the night dancing. Strange how we never appreciate what we have!

Would love to keep chatting but if you could see my house you would understand the need to get off of here and get busy.

It is Warrenton/Round Top Antique week too and you know where to find me after today. lol

Love to all
Maggie

What is it about class reunion committees? I think they get a handbook that says "Be sure to paste a really old photo of the attendee to their name tag". It's worse if they also paste it onto your spouse's name tag, because then YOU get to look at it all night! Glad you had a good time. You look marvelous in your outfit. Nothing as much fun as spending the night with your girlfriends! xoxo D

Well, I don't know, Maggie! Who said the guy had to be your age! ; ) You need to start thinking like a "cougar"!

it sounds like you had a great time with your girlfriends...and Gretchen was right about the dress. You looked lovely. How come all the men look so old and all the women so fantastic??!!

You looked so nice. I'm glad that you had a fun time with the sisters and your other friends.
No handsome prince, darn. Gretchen is hilarious. I used to go to all of my reunions, then they quit having them. I figured the girls putting them togethers must have gained weight and didn't want to have them.
And that is the same reason, I probably wouldn't have gone anyway. Silly, huh.

Aww, I was one of those hoping for a real reunion with an old flame or maybe a new one. You were certainly dressed for the occasion. At least you had a good group and lots of fun.
I agree that you all looked so much better than the men.

We have only been to '1' reunion ... no emotion one way or the other, just wasted a lot of money going.

you made me laugh when you said who are these old people. We went to my husband's reunion several years ago and he said on the way home "Good grief they all look so old" then he got really quiet and said I guess that includes me funny I don't feel old. I always enjoy your posts.

You look great! I'm glad you put pics of yourself in the post...and I laugh when I look at men my age and try and think of them as teens...hard to do! When I was 18 I went to a class reunion of a fellow worker who was 28 and this was his 10yr. reunion..all I could think of that night was how old I thought they all looked!...perspective is everything.

Loved hearing about your reunion, Maggie! I think most reunions have two reunions -- one for the whole crowd and one at the hotel later for good friends! So glad you had a good time with your lovely lifelong friends! You were cute at 17, but beautiful now!

Hi Maggie, I was by your post yesterday and didn't even had time to leave a comment.

I'm glad that you went to the High School reunion and that you had a great time with your friends in the hotel room. Be glad that that the cards got laid. It's good for a chuckle.

You and your girl friends all look beautiful. Are you planning of staying in touch with each others?

I've been writing my story for your Blogazine but Lord, I have so much that I could share I don't know where to begin and end. Lots has happened in almost 65 years, ha,ha... I'm scared that it will be too long and scare away your Blogger friends....

Maggie!!!!!!! OMG I can't believe it. I was thrilled to see you comment on my blog. Yeah, I was long gone from blogging but recently started again, missed it, but have had to redo and rebuild everything and everybody. It's been a process.

Maybe next time not only the cards will get laid. Remember, always be prepared and always wear fun undies.:)

Sounds like you had a great time at your reunion. You are so fortunate to be able to have classmates that you remember so well. I never was able to go to a high school reunion because I went to three different high schools and the one I graduated from, I can only remember one really good friend that I had, so I would have no reason to go there. The one I would have loved to go to was in the town I lived in for the first sixteen years of my life. They are the kids I grew up with, but because I moved from there when I was sixteen, I never was invited to any of the class reunions. Oh well, I managed to live through it and now a lot of my old friends have died. I think it is neat that you still have friends from your high school days.

Looks like you had a great time, how time flies, sad how people who are so close in school lose touch so easily, wish i could have been a fly on the wall in that hotel room..... will it ever be the same.......
