Around The North Forty Today!

I started my day off with a hairy bottom an inch from my face. Kind of scary to open your eyes up and all you see is hair staring back at you. I thought this must be what it's like to wake up lying next to one of the guys from Duck Dynasty.

Thank goodness it was just Tinkerbell!

Then I heard a noise and looked up and my Billy Sue was on top of my mantle in the bedroom. Very Bad Kitty. I hope she does not make a habit of this.

I wanted to volunteer at Festival Hill today stuffing Christmas cards but we are getting our first freeze this
Wednesday and I knew that I had to finish mowing the North Forty before then. Maybe waking up with a guy from Duck Dynasty would be better than mowing all the time. lol
Since I bore you about every other post about my mowing I thought I would show you some of the acres I mow. Be glad I did not take pic's of all the 32 acres I mow.

As you can see from these pics there are lots of big oak trees.

This is one of the gates leading into the pond and gazebo area. The old red building was moved in from Burton and once was their hospital. Very small building so hard to imagine it was once a hospital.

The pond is full for the first time in six months. I hate hate mowing around it. Always afraid I am going to
slide into the water and be ate by big big water moccasins,

Hope this was not too boring for you.

Hard to imagine how gorgeous our weather has been for weeks now. Some of you are already dealing with snow and really cold temperatures.  I think of you often and will be cold myself on Wednesday. lol

Today while mowing I thought of  our Veterans and how much I appreciate them. I thought of my dad serving in World War II. I miss him so much and not a day goes by that I don't wish he were here so I could have just one more conversation with him.

I bet he would be surprised to see his only daughter driving a big Holland tractor. He passed away before I became a Correctional Officer for the State of Texas. That might have surprised him even more than the tractor. lol

His dad drove a tractor most of his life. I actually believe my Grand Dad was still working on his farm even in his seventies. I may just be doing that myself unless I go to Monroe, La looking for the Uncle from Duck Dynasty. hahaha

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me tonight. I love it when you stop by.

Sweet Dreams and Love to All
Maggie

It's hard to believe you're mowing when there's parts of the country that's snowing!
Your 40 is beautiful.

Glad you didn't fall into the water. I can't even think about snakes without shivering.

Hope you are well and wake up to a different site tomorrow!

Wow! Now that is an accomplishment, mowing the whole north forty.

Yikes! I do well to get the kitchen mopped. :)

Wonderful pictures. Rest well.

You do have a lot to mow. Yes if the weathermen are correct we may get to wear some winter clothes for a change. Love those trees. We have lots of live oaks here in our county too. Some of them are in the middle of the streets and roads. I'll be in Leander for Thanksgiving, I bet you know where that is.

I love to mow, but wow Maggie..that's a lot of grass! It's snowing here tonight so I guess I'm done mowing for the season! Yours is the second blog to mention Duck Dynasty..I've never seen it but perhaps it's a sign that I should! Have a good week!

I saw a sign in the store today regarding Duck Dynasty. I don't know what all the buzz is about since I haven't seen it, it doesn't seem to be something that would interest me much. Can't stand the facial hair! Glad you are done mowing for the season...wow, that's a lot of work. Hope you are feeling well...miss you!

Oh dear Maggie, you have so much more grounds to mow than me. I only have less than an acre to mow. No wonder Duck Dynasty sounds good to you, lol...
I hope that you can put the mower away soon so you can rest. November is clipping along fast.

I like the comparison of cat butts and Duck Dynasty bearded guys. he,he.

The only Duck Dynasty I saw was a preacher guy on Godvine. All I know they are making a pile of money. I never saw the show so I don't know if I would like it.

Stay warm,
Hugs,
JB

Pretty place. I used to cover about an acre an hour when brush-hogging and burned about a gallon an hour doing it. I could hardly walk after a day spent astride that old Ferguson 40. Still, I miss those days. Glad to know that you're still "perculating," as my great aunt used to say.

I am impressed that you can write about anything but mowing after seeing the pictures. My dad used to always say he was going out to mow the back forty, which meant his one acre yard. It never really sunk in before that you are mowing an actual 40 acres! Whew. Winter on the way means you get a break.

That's a lot of land to mow, but oh so pretty. I find snakes a real drawback to living in the south. Stay warm...it's trying to snow here.

that is a lot to mow. but it looks good. oh snakes I do believe that is why I couldn't live full time in the south. He have them in the north but no poison ones here. My dad served in korea I think of him a lot.

Sweet Maggie I couldn't help but laugh at what you woke up to an inch from your face. lol That happens around here at times too.

Hopefully if Billy Sue keeps getting in places she shouldn't be she will be very careful not to knock off anything.

I bet the kitties will love their insulated bed. They are so lucky to have you caring for them and doing all you can to keep them safe, warm and dry.

Oh, my sweet Maggie...all that you have to mow and I grumble sometimes because I have to mow just under a half acre.

It is beautiful on your North Forty and you sure keep it looking nice.

I enjoyed all the pictures and your posts are never boring.

Hope you and all your family are doing well sweet Maggie.

Love and hugs for you and nose kisses for the kitties.

Thanks for stopping by our blog it is always such a wonderful treat to find you have visited.

Still keeping you and your sweet family in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey Mags!!!

I LOVED seeing your name pop up! & reading your sweet note! I miss you too & hope you know how much I love you right back!!!

I loved the tour! At first thought Ithink mowing it once would be a feat for me :) I don't know if I could handle a tractor...& the water would freak me out too...especially after you mentioned water moccasins...eeeww...But then I look at the pictures & think how I could really fall in love with that land...deeply in love...you get to know every dip & the best way to get under the fences & trees & land has a way of getting into your soul... :) I doubt anyone knows that land as well as you Mags.

The tour was grand & I wish I was there with ya!!!

That cocker looks so much like one I had, same face and color. You have such a wonderful farm. I tried living in a condo, Never again.
That's why I left Fla. for Maine.
We are cold this morning, thank goodness I have a heated garage.
Don't work to hard. Yvonne

Oh Maggie,
I wish you lived closer too. You would love the sale, and it would just be so much fun to talk to you in person. I was in Oklahoma last month, my son graduated from basic training at Fort Sill, so I was in your area, at least compared to Minnesota, but still so far away.

Hope you got that mowing done. We have put away our mowers and have attached the snow plows. IT has been freezing up here. Of course, our furnace broke. It's been 53 degrees in our house the last couple of mornings. Surprisingly, I have gotten used to it and 53 doesn't seem so cold now. It's amazing what your body can do!

I miss you and all our funny chats. It would be fun for you and my husband to exchange inmate stories. Have a great weekend. I am up north this weekend, almost to Canada!

Holy Cow, that's a lot of mowing. By the time you finish I bet the first part is grown up again! I just watched Duck Dynasty this week for the first time ever. What a hoot

I always love stopping by, Maggie! That's a lot of mowing, but you sure live in a beautiful place! Loved your observation about waking up with hair in your face and being relieved that it was Tinkerbell! I know what you mean. The other night I woke up with all four cats on and around me -- a whole lot of fur there!

Hi, sweet Maggie! Thanks for stopping in to check on us. We are all doing fine, just trying to stay warm. It is cold and has been raining for several days until today. Now we are in for freezing rain and sleet tomorrow and Monday. Winter came much earlier than I was hoping for. Stay warm my sweet friend, cuddle up to Tinkerbell and keep nice and warm. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from me and mine. Love, hugs and nose kisses
