The Beat Goes On!

The Beat Goes On!

I was in Starbuck`s recently when I suddenly realized I desperately needed to fart. The music was really loud so I timed my fart with the beat of the music. After a couple of songs, I started to feel better. I finished my coffee and noticed that everyone was staring at me. And, suddenly, I remembered I was listening to my iPod.

So, how is your day going?

That's what happens when old people start using technology!

My dear friend Patti over at The New Sixty has decided to give up blogging.  I have been sad since reading her last post. I do hope she reconsiders and writes again but if not I completely understand. Patti you will be missed by everyone lucky enough to have gotten to know you and especially this ole grandma.

It seems quite a few of us bloggers have been considering taking a break or quitting all together. I too have wondered if I should do the same.

It would be too hard to write a last post and not hear from you again. So for now my plans are to keep going and hope that the muse in charge of creative juices will decide to pay me a visit more than she has lately.

The last two days I have been working on the room upstairs. Still trying to paper it and paint it. I think I have set a record for the longest time redoing a room. lol

You of course will be the first one I show the results to if and when I do the Happy Dance of completing the task.

Hope you are having a marvelous weekend and the weather is not too blistering hot. It is cloudy here and we actually have a sixty percent chance of rain tomorrow. If the rains come I may just do the happy dance early.

Love to all,
Maggie

I'd thought about giving up Facebook recently, but a few folks practically begged me not to. I'd like to lessen the time I spend on Blogger, too, but don't know how to back off without stopping entirely.

I'm thinking in summer it's harder to blog...there's so much more going on. I've noticed many bloggers I follow have fewer posts than before but we'll see into fall and winter what happens. Would certainly miss you if you stopped dear Maggie.

Oh, sweet Maggie I would be so sad if you stopped blogging. I think we should blog when we feel like it and not when we don't. I would rather see you do that than not blog at all. I miss Patti too and hope she gets back to blogging at some point. I bet when winter sets in blogging will pick up. We finally got some rain after almost 3 months of having none. Hope you have a super weekend. Hugs

Loved your fart story, Maggie! And I'm sad about Patti, but I do understand. I'm with Maggie Miller on blogging when it feels right and keeping silence when not rather than giving up entirely. I haven't been blogging as much as usual this summer because I'm working on two book proposals and also dealing with some family issues that take a lot of time and energy. But I do love hearing about you (and so many others) and what's going on whenever you feel like sharing. You're extra special, Maggie!

Hi Maggie, I would sooner see a post every week or so then no post at all. Mine have been less because of family health issues that have to be dealt with and I am working on a commission lap quilt. I still try to fit in a post every now and then plus read some of my friend's blog. I do more reading in blog land then on face book. I enjoyed your post. I am getting ready to go out to dinner. We have been celebrating my birthday which is really tomorrow, but we have two days of celebration so far. Have a great weekend. Hey we are at 79 degrees beautiful. Hugs Your Missouri Friend

Hi Maggie,
Thanks for the laughs...you are too funny girl!

I too have been taking a little blog break lately to take care of some family and personal matters. I've decided that I will be doing a little less blogging and a lot more reading others blogs.

That fart story is funny bad!
Please don't even think of stopping blogging; that is like a friend saying goodbye.

Silly girl...you can't stop letting us know how you are. How sad we would be!

I love reading your blog posts, and now am wondering just what your re-do room looks like?

I enjoyed the photos of your front porch when you re-did that, and so wished that I was sitting and visiting with you.

But, I'll just have to be happy with my visit via the blogaspere!

Hugs,

Kathy

I think we all just hit a place in our lives where we just don't have the time to blog. I'm kind of in that right now myself. I don't want to quit though. I just try not to post if I don't have time to visit others. Once my kids are back in school I should have more time on my hands! lol

Ah, but I continue to lurk.
I hope you don't give up the ship like I did Maggie. I do miss everyone but am loving the freedom. Guess I was burned out.
Thank you so much for the kind words. You are such a joy to read young lady and would be missed terribly.
Just scale back if you must and write when you feel like it. We will be here.

Hi Maggie, Just wanted to let you know that I'm looking forward to seeing the new rooms all painted. And about the blogging thing, I too have noticed that a lot of people are blogging less, or not at all anymore. I don't know what I would do with myself if I couldn't talk! LOL Sharing my crocheting, poetry and everything else in this old lady's world has become an anticipated joy every day for the last 2 plus years. One of these days I may run out of something to talk about....ad I'll use the post to talk about that too! ^_^ Have a good weekend, Maggie.

Hi dear Maggie, it's me, Julia. I've been missing from my blog too. I only posted once in July and my problem right now is that I've been busy, but then I was just as busy when I was blogging daily but I guess I just got over tired and took a break and it must have felt good because my break is getting longer and longer. It's like exercise, when I start I'm going at breakneck speed but when I take a break, it's really hard to get my Mojo back.

Lets face it, I'm not getting any younger and it's happening one day at a time and I need more rest.

I check on blogs through my Google Reader but don't always leave comments because of lack of time. I mean to comment later but then other blogs comes up so it's hard to keep up. That's why I don't try to get more followers. If they join, it's nice though.
Big hugs Maggie, take a break if you must but by Geez, come back...

I laughed out loud!! Great story.

I too will miss you if you stop blogging. Even a little update now and then will keep us connected.

I've also thought about stopping because it's hard to get anything together these days as I plug along with my cancer. Now in then is better than not at all.

I giggled when I read your "fart joke". Good thing I wasn't drinking a soda!

I've only been blogging for three years, but I think of my followers as friends that I get a chance to chat with every day. You know me, Mags. I never have a hard time thinking of something to share with my friends...and if what I have to talk about on any given day isn't exactly earth-shattering or amusing, I simply speak from my heart. I don't think blog posts have to always be witty or clever...just "real".

Gosh, I hope you don't shut down, too. I love reading your posts, whenever you have time and inclination to write them. (And I can't wait to see "finish" photos of your current project!)

Sending long distance hugs, my friend.
xoxo

Maggie,

HA HA HA HA!!
I laughed so hard out loud when I read this!!!
You made my day!! LOL!!
I think we all go in waves when it comes to blogging. I was on a roll for awhile and doing a lot of posts but now I am doing one post a week. I want the time to be able to visit others and not the pressure of having to get a post up and running. Now I work on a post at my leisure for a whole week and it is far less stressful and far more enjoyable!!
Thanks so much for starting my day out with a laugh!!

Thanks too for visiting and always leaving me such sweet comments!!

Hugs,
Deb

I too am going to miss Patti ...I dont have friends since i moved up to Scotland about 7years ago ...probably my fault ...but feel close to a small number of blog friends ...Patti being one of them.As I read certain blogs I feel the person is sitting opposite ....mug in hand.
Your story on this post made me giggle ..I have tried to let out silent ones only, to my embaracement,to discovered they were anything but.lol.

I love blogs that allow me to share others lives and are not just one theme ...I hope you keep going. I am resting for a few weeks but when some family matters are sorted I will return ....maybe Patti will.xx

I also miss Patti so much. We all need a break and a chance to do other things. Otherwise, I would positively DEMAND that she (and you)keep on entertaining me. Best not to turn the blog into a job.

Maggie, you just made me laugh. On the thought of giving up blogging...I miss my friends who have stopped blogging. I understand that people stop doing things but it's tough to lose contact with someone you've come to like, and I would sure miss you!

I laughed out loud!! too funny!

I tell you, I miss visitng my blog friends. Facebook and twitter has ruined me...LOL! Everytime I set out to go hopping around blogland, I get side tracked! I am so glad you still come by to read. I can't say goodbye to blogging either. I feel like nothing has to be final. I'm going with the universal flow. Sometimes, I can post, and sometimes I can't. When I go back and read my posts, I am blessed as if I'm reading someone else's words. So, if I am blessed, I know others are. So glad to feel your presence!!! Peace and Blessings! AND KEEP BLOGGING!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed that FART joke. I've got tears in my eyes! Thanks for sharing.

I think, from time to time, we might need to break away from the computer...from posting....to recharge ourselves....and then get back into blogging. I suppose it all depends on what we feel we are getting, or what we might not be getting......I do hope you'll go on posting.....this is like a family!

Hi Maggie,

So lovely to have a visit from you, many thanks and sorry I have not been around much here.
Please continue blogging, always lovely to read your posts and hear from you.
As for papering a room - I probably beat you for the slowest -ours seems to be taking forever. I put up another two strips today, so will get there. Good luck with your decorating and look forward to seeing it all finished.

Happy week

Hmm, after that iPod experience, I will refrain from buying one. I might do the same thing. Oh, well we can claim we are transitioning from sanity to senility.

The unbearable summer and health have slowed down my blogging. But a vacation is coming up so I have something to get excited about.

I too mourned Arkansas Patti's decision. I made the decision not to be bound to a computer so I never generated a following and don't expect to ever be the writer she is. I suggested she create a book of her stories as a self portrait book.

Part of my lack of interest is I am intricately involved in dealing with my A-Fib and decisions about its treatment or procedures. That makes for boring reading over and over again.

The condition also has cut doewn on my photography time as heat bothers me and my heart.

But I'll plug along when I can.

Thanks for the giggle! I don't blog as much as I used to but the thought of giving up my blog makes me sad too. I still like knowing it's there for when I want to share something, even if no one reads it!
