Trip Canceled!

Well it seems I drove you and myself crazy for nothing. After weeks of worrying about the weather in Iowa and having the right clothes to wear the trip was canceled Saturday around noon.

I have to tell you I felt like a 100 pounds was lifted off my shoulder when they told me we would not be going. It just seemed like a bad idea to drive a thousand miles to Sioux City from my part of Texas in December but I did not want my friend driving there alone.

I do feel bad for Barbara because she had already bought the tickets to the GOP Debate and dinner plus she wanted to go so badly.  Her sister called me and told me that they had talked her out of it but for me to be on stand by since she might change her mind and not listen to them.

It is late Sunday night so I think if we were going she would of reached me by now. I hope I am not jinxing myself by posting this tonight. lol

This will give me the extra days I need to finish shopping, cleaning, cooking and every thing else before Christmas Day when my kids are coming home. At least I hope so you never know when it comes to my luck.

I do want to remind you of the giveaway from Novica that is going on now until Friday. It is a wonderful giveaway sponsored by them and it is for $50.00 gift certificate to their awesome store. If you have not checked their site out please do. You want be disappointed. Also if you would like to have a chance to win this just scroll down to the post before this and leave a comment. I sure would appreciate it.

Hope you all are not over doing it with all the preparations for Christmas. I know that is easier said than done. I have not let it bother me yet but that's because I was too busy worry about this other. lol

I did promise you a story about the cowboy and me so I have not forgotten. I will do my best to write that one tomorrow sometime.

Have a great week and Sweet Dreams
Maggie

Well, it is a relief that you have just received the "gift" of several extra days just before Christmas.

The travel would have been so stressful and potentially hazardous. I'm glad you aren't disappointed. It would have been exciting to experience it all.

Have a great week.
Hugs and loves and lots of mistleto for you.

I can understand your relief. I've had that feeling before when a particularly demanding trip is in front of me. It would have been a fun experience, but it was definitely causing a lot of stress in your life!

Enjoy your extra days to prepare for Christmas!!

=)

I do not blame you for being relieved. Right at Christmas is a hard time to try and travel. We only have 2 hrs to travel north to go to my daughters, but we always worry about the weather. In Ohio, you just never know, although so far this year we haven't had any of the white nasty stuff. I am hoping it holds off until we at least get up there!!
I am so glad that you will be with your children. I will be with one of mine and her hubby and 4 grands.

Can't wait to hear the cowboy story!!!

Hugs and love!!!

God Bless~
Debbie

Maggie, I had no idea that this was a driving trip. That's a long long drive.
I'm relieved that the weight has been taken off your shoulders and that you feel good about it but I must say that you are a great friend to even consider going even though you really didn't wanted to go.

I can't wait for the cowboy story now. Hugs. JB

Sooooo glad that it got cancelled. Sounds like your friend might have really been upset since it wasn't her that called you.
Just to hve free time that you weren't planning on is exciting.
I am done with everything except baking and that may or may not happen. I did have a mini meltdown about 10 days again but it may have been for other reasons. I for once feel good about everything and not stressed. We had to cut waaaay back but stil managed to have presents under the tree.
I hope you get alot done and can feel some peace in your heart before the celebrating begins.

Hi Maggie!!! I have been thinking of you often! I am glad to hear your trip was cancelled because well...I live in this cold & I don't wish it on you! :) It is yucky! But I am sure it would have been fun to see the debate! I just keep hoping they actually get a real canidate but I think it is too late for that! Oh well...someday :)

I haven't gotten going with my shoipping this year I am falling really behind & now I think we are starting the flu cycle here...Bo last night & who knows who tonight :) So that'll put me back another week :) I am quite the Christmas eve power shopper though so no worries :) I kinda like that! I'll bet you couldn't help but say "whew", Maggie! You are a good friend to say you'd go even though you really didn't want to.

I hear you about the trip. It is a long trip and you never know how the roads are especially when the weather can change on a dime.

I can only imagine how much of a relief you're feeling without having to travel. Enjoy the slow pace of the lead-up now!

To bad about the tickets but if the weather is bad it is not worth traveling on those icy roads.
Hugs to you and can't wait to hear about the cowboy.

I am sorry about your friend buying the tickets and not using them. But I am very happy to hear that you have had the burden of the trip lifted from you sweet Maggie.

You just enjoy preparing for Christmas and spending time with your sweet family.

I am looking forward to the cowboy story.

Love and hugs!

You've just been given your first Christmas gift--a few extra days at home you didn't know you'd have. Enjoy!

I love when that happens to me too. I try in my saddest voice to say "Oh, that's OK...don't worry about it" while I'm doing the happy dance with my feet!!
Glad that worry is over for you. Now we have Christmas to plan for and look forward to...have fun!

Isn't unanticipated free time -- especially at this time of year -- a wonderful gift! I'm so glad you're not going. It sounded such a stressful undertaking at a time when you really don't need that. What a relief!
