Lot's Going On!

Saturday Christi and I visited Round Top Festival Institute to see if it would be the perfect place to have her wedding.  Most of you are familiar with this unique place since I blog about it quite often.

Winter is not the best time for taking pictures of the  Edythe Bates Chapel  (1883)
The small chapel is amazing inside with gorgeous stained glass windows.
Seating capacity is only 160 so that might be a problem.

The grounds are spectacular offering various settings. Attached to the other Chapel is the Texas
Mediterranean Herzstein Stone Chapel  and Memorial Plaza where you could have a
wedding reception.

I persuaded Christi to pose in front of the stone chapel.

Christi and Paul will be visiting several other places mostly in the Austin area for their special day. What a big decision but I know they will pick the perfect location!

So many decisions in the future for these two love birds to make for their day. Just hope you guys don't get tired of my talking about it for months. lol

I wanted to share with you what my grandson Bailey gave me for Christmas. As early as Thanksgiving Bailey was giving me hints as to what he had bought for me. Christmas Day he could not wait to see my reaction to my gift. What a surprise to find a ceramic bust of Elvis! I love it and have it on my book shelf in the sitting area of my bedroom. I thought here I could  look at it every day and smile.

He told me that they had went to a garage sale and when he saw this he knew it was for his Grandma Yellow Hair. Special to me knowing he picked it out and paid for it himself.
Should I unpack my other Elvis mementos or just let this one shine all by itself?

Thank you Bailey for such a thoughtful gift!

Tomorrow I am having my vein surgery. It is the VNUS Closure procedure. It is I hope a minimally invasive surgery.  Endovenous thermal ablation is performed using local anesthesia along the course of the diseased vein.

I decided to just have one leg operated on tomorrow since I am a little nervous about having this done.
If I don't jump off the table and knock the doctor down while racing out the door I will consider having the other leg done in the near future.

They gave me the option of having a Valium before the procedure and like a dummy I told the doctor I would not need it. Then after talking to family and friends I was persuaded to call them today and order the Valium. Past experiences with this drug made me turn it down but hopefully taking it this time will not be a bad experience.

Well how many days until Spring? We are now under a winter weather alert. They are saying we might have snow and sleet on Friday. So glad my surgery is Thursday.

Snow and sleet for us is a big deal. I just pray the weather men don't know what their talking about. I have plenty of Diet Dr. Pepper so I should be okay. I took Julia's advice and spent days hanging plastic sheeting on my windows. I did a bad job hanging it but it's up and I will soon know if it makes a difference. I am sure it will and I appreciate all of your good advice for making my living conditions out here better.

Well I need to close and drink some water and get these old legs ready for in the morning.

Hope your staying warm and well during these winter storms.
Thank you for coming by and saying hello.

Love to All
Maggie

So very glad to see you post but sorry you have to have surgery.
we are going to -8 tonight last night -5 we have the beast in the basement(woodstove) humming happily along keeping us nice and warm. So exciting about your daughter we want to hear all about it. Keep you one Elvis thing out and let it shine. Don't drink a lot of that Dr Pepper not that good for you make some ice tea or good old water and lemon.
ok that is my comment for the night. lets us know how you did with your surgery.

Good luck with your surgery, yes it's cold away down here in south Alabama. Lol. I hope the weather isn't to bad tomorrow. Take care.

Hi Dear Grandma Yellow hair, what a darling Bailey for getting you the Elvis bust. She probably thought that you should have a famous man to keep you company.

How exciting that Christie is going to get married.
I'm looking forward to the big day. I'm so glad for both of you.

I sure hope a good outcome and quick recovery from your vein operation and no complications. I hope that your legs will feel better.

My power bill was real high this month but I knew that it would be. I had my heat high all the time while the kids were here from mid December to the first week in January, heating three floors of this huge house so the babies wouldn't be cold. It was worth it to have them here.

I hope that you sealed the windows good so no air can escape and I hope that it cuts the draft and your power bill.

I've finished hooking my Childhood Memories rug and posted a picture on my blog. I'm working on finishing the wavy edge and it's more difficult than a straight edge but I'm about one third done.

We were lucky today, we missed the blizzard they were announcing for our area and we only got a little sprinkle instead.

Take care and I'll be keeping you in my prayers. Sorry for the long comment. I'm always so glad to read your posts.

Hugs and prayers,
JB

Oh my, I am so excited for Kristi...she is going to have so much fun planning her wedding, and I'm sure you will too! Mother of the bride is a pretty exciting thing. It does not compare at all to being mother of the groom!
I hope/pray all goes well for you tomorrow. If someone offered me valium I would snatch it out of their hands so quick...well, let's just say I wouldn't turn it down. Even though I prefer ativan, hehe. Thinking of you sweet lady, stay warm and be safe. love you.

Congratulation to Kristi. You have lots on your plate in the next few months. Good luck with the surgery. I'm sure it will go well and I'm glad you opted for the valium.

Oh, I don't envy you wedding planning. Hope it is a pleasant and not too stressful experience.
Good luck with the surgery and bundle up for the snow. I am envious--of the snow.

How fun -- I officiate at weddings here at home and I love watching the excitement as brides are planning! It shows their true nature, I'll tell you what! Love your Elvis - he should shine as a beacon of Bailey's thoughtfulness. :) I know someone who had that surgery and is SO glad she did! Good luck!

What a beautiful place to have a wedding! I hope they find the perfect spot for them. Good luck with your surgery. I know you'll do great. I always tell people the only "minor" surgery is somebody else's! The Elvis bust did make me smile...how thoughtful of your grandson to buy it for you knowing it's the perfect gift. I'm sure he was super excited! Stay warm down there. It's going to be -16de. on Monday and tomorrow we're getting a Winter storm..I'm soooo ready for Spring!

Dear Maggie,

What a beautiful place chapel to have a wedding.
These are big decisions and fun and blessed decisions to make.
The weather is very cold and I cringe too when I decide to turn the heat up a bit. It has been such cold temps, though that is what winter brings. I remember when I was little all the snow that would pile up. I suppose the past winters have spoiled us.
I am an Elvis fan too. I watched the Elvis movies on TCM channel on New Years Eve. It was fun.
I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
Blessings dear. Catherine xo

Dear Maggie,
Yes, get the plastic up. Even in Maine with winds below zero in
a new house, I had to put up tape on my windows. I have two friends in Maine that just had the vein surgery.
we will be praying for you.
Now that chapel is just beautiful. Reminds me of some of the gorgeous houses they used to have in Galveston, Texas.
Be well and let us know how you are doing. Hugs yvonne
