Emergency Room!

To all of you that have been so supportive of my return to work status I so appreciate you! Your comments as always have been the best ever.

Yesterday morning (Thursday) I woke up about three and when I got out of bed to walk to the restroom I was limping.  I thought oh jeezzz what now but went back to bed. Then at seven when the alarm went off I could barely raise up to get out of bed and when I did I was bent over.

It did not take a reading from one of those Dummy books to figure out that I had over done it the last three days at work. I knew I had no choice but to go to work so I somehow managed to put my uniform on drive as far as my brother Billy's house which is about 8 miles away. His sweet wife Linda then drove me to work .
I stayed in the car while she went inside to talk to the Captain.

He told her to take me to the pain management doctor which was 90 miles away. I then called the pain doctor and he was not in his office on Thursday and they suggested I just go to the emergency room.
In the emergency room they gave me an injection of Demeral and Phenergan and some tablets of Prednisone. Also a Vicodin Pack to take home. My orders were to not to return to work until I follow up with my doctor.

The Demeral kicked in pretty darn fast so I was able to sleep a few hours when I got home.

This morning I am not as bent over as I was yesterday. Yesterday morning I felt like I was bent as a large oak tree trying to touch the ground.

The pain management doctor that released me to work can not see me until 9:30 am Tuesday and the workers comp doctor can not see me until Tuesday afternoon so somehow I have to be in College Station Tuesday morning and back here that afternoon for this doctors visit.

Gretchen is checking on me when she takes break and will go to the store for me this afternoon. Right now I am headed back to bed but I know how worried you guys have been by the emails I am receiving so I wanted to touch base with you.

I guess now I am off work again until at least Wednesday. Who knows I feel so in limbo with these doctors.

Sending gooooooooooooooood thoughts to you for a wonderful weekend.

Love to all
Maggie

  6. So sorry to hear you had another set back. It seemed like your return to work schedule was too much too fast. I hope you are able to get lots of rest this weekend and the Dr. appointments go well next week.

  7. Oh Maggie, I'm so sorry to read about this. I sure hope that you get some relief/help soon. I haven't been on the computer much to read my blogs, etc., as my mom had back surgery a week ago on Tuesday. I sure hope that you feel better soon and I am sending virtual hugs and healing thoughts/wishes your way. Rest and get to feeling better SOON! Love, Sue

  8. Oh whatever are we going to do for you... we all love you so much and feel the pain you have..I pray that it will ease soon. It just proves that you are back at work far too soon..If only you lived over here you would have been ok...
keep trying to smile. and thank Gretchen for me for heling you out...I am just a wee bit jealous of her wishing it was me instead of her helping.

  9. Just take care of yourself. The work thing will have to work itself out someday, but it can't be allowed to jeopardize your health. Hope the doctors have a better plan next time around.

  11. Hi Maggie!

Oh no! That REALLY stinks! I hate that you are so far away! You need me to make you some dinner! (Although I am a terrible cook...but I would try) I really hope that you are not feeling icky for long! & I hope you CAN take it easy, I know that is hard for a woman to do....hope your work is understanding too because I know that will be stressful on ya...now go lie down & get some rest & I will check back on ya later :)

  12. Maggie, I guess that my prayers are not working so good these days. Yet I still pray for your quick healing. I guess that mother nature can't be rush and the body is repairing itself in it's own time. Don't give up hope. Just try to stay off work until you're strong enough if at all possible.

I know what backache can do to a person. I couldn't get out of bed by myself and couldn't even pull my underwear on, that's pathetic.

In the meantime REST, REST, REST if the cat will let you. Hugs, JB

  15. Oh Maggie,
This makes me really sad that you were forced into a situation where you've regressed; all the PT to heal and get better and you're not any better off.
I do hope you take it easy this weekend...you are in my thoughts and prayers!

  16. It just makes me so mad that they forced you back to work before you were ready. All you need is to take a step backwards! Sheesh.

Take it easy. And don't let 'em push you around, okay?

    Hugs,

    =)

  18. Think "disability!" (No one WANTS to, but sometimes it's the only sensible option.) Unfortunately, acceptance seems to have more to do with the price of the lawyer than the condition of the party applying.

  19. I am so angry that this happened to you. I just knew that it was not safe for you to return to work in any capacity because I have the same problem with my back. George is right...go for your disability so you can stop worrying about bills and work on getting stronger. take care sweet one..;j

  21. What a mess! It's unbelievable how poorly you are being treated. I sure hope the Docs that see you next week will help you and have you stay off work. Hopefully you'll feel better this weekend so just take it easy and rest..thinking of you and sending prayers and good thoughts!

  22. Really frustrates me what worker's comp does to folks. I was afraid it was to early for you to return to work, but you did what you had to do. I hope those docs get it right this time. I am with Jojo, go for disability my friend. Get better so we won't worry!!!!

    God Bless~

  25. Hi Maggie, I'm so sorry you're in pain again.I hope things will get back to 'normal' soon. Take care of yourself. Blessings from the UK

  26. I am kind of agreeing with George. As long as you have been laid up and the fact that you can't get out of pain, I would think makes you eligible. But like he says, sadly a lawyer is needed.
I am just sick that you have had such a set back. Please don't get too discouraged. You remain in my prayers.

  27. Dear Maggie,
I hope you are feeling a little better by the time you read this. Bless your sweet heart♥
Just try to stay calm and rest...taking care of yourself.
Praying too that the doctors will have the wisdom to take care of you...

    You are loved.

  29. Well, I'm glad that you're off work again because it certainly doesn't sound like you were healed enough to go!! The doctor who ordered you back to work should have his head examined! Geez! I'm so glad you posted because I had you on my mind wondering how you were faring. Take good care of YOU!! xoxo

  30. Oh, sweet Maggie I have been out of state and didn't know that you had gone back to work. Seems they sent you back too soon, I am soooooooo sorry that you are now in horrible pain again and having to stay in bed. Bless your heart! Will keep sending up prayers for you. Love and hugs!

  31. So sorry to hear of your pain and hope it's better soon. You'll be in my prayers. Big hugs!

  32. Sometimes I think that when docs have pain themselves, then and only then, do they change the way they practice. (I know two who did) They have more empathy and treat pain in a much more agressive way. Too bad you have the one you do. So sorry you had to go through all that!
Hope the rest helps and you are re-evaluated. Good Luck and hugs!!!

  33. Of course I don't have knowledge of the extent of your injuries. But I knew the pain doctors were not for me years ago. I cannot take pain meds due to bad acid reflux. My stretch yoga twice a day saves my butt. And has for over 14 years.

  34. Oh Maggie Sweetie...
When Sis told me about you, I was so worried. I immediately added you to my prayer list. I am SO sorry to hear about all this. When will these idiots realize that you are NOT able to work? They need to settle with you, and let your body rest forever. It is not an easy fix for us when we get older, and you were hurt on the job, so they need to make it right. Wasn't being down for so long, enough for them?

Let Sis and I come down there and give them a piece of our mind. We can take them on, and we will take Ms Pearl down there with us.

In the meantime sweet one, please rest and rest. Take your meds and sleep for as long as you can at what periods you can. I will be praying and sending good vibes your way. You are SO loved sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  36. Hi, my friend, have missed reading your blogs, things have been more than a little hectic, really sorry that you are in pain again, I will put you on our prayer chain again. I wish I could be there to help you, but know my thoughts, prayers and love are winging themselves across the universe............ did you feel that big hug..........

  37. Hey Sugar! ;) Just wanted you to know, I have been reading you on my phone's RSS feeder, but it only lets you read, not comment. You, dear friend, are one of my first blogs I look for! (but I will try harder to comment more often)

I'm so sorry that you are out of work again. And, DUH. Of course you are, because you probably shouldn't have gone in the first place (if you don't mind my saying so...) I hope this is all over for you soon, after all, how much can one person take?? Good luck on Tues, I will be back to see how everything went!

I'm thinking of you and praying for you daily. Get well soon!
